The First Step Toward a "Work Style Not Bound by a Company" — Start with Just 3 Hours on the Weekend
Hello.
I am Takahashi, a career-advancement recruitment agent who walks alongside you.
Born in the first year of the Heisei era.
In this era of the 100-year life, I aim to enjoy both work and private life as an active participant for a long time,
and while eventually providing the spark to ignite passion in many people,
I currently work as a recruitment agent while being a parallel worker, with the vision of building a "village" with many companions.
Recently, on note, based on my own actual experience in career support,
I share information and insights for people in their 20s and 30sbased on the three pillars of
"job change know-how," "work styles," and "career advancement."
My latest self-introduction articleis here.
"I want to try doing something outside of the company."
Have you ever thought that way?
But in reality, you might feel like this:
"I'm exhausted on weekdays, and I have neither the time nor the energy."
"I don't know where to start."
I understand. I was the same.
And for a long time, I actually didn't work on anything...
That is exactly why I want to tell you this.
A work style not bound by a company
can be startedwith just "3 hours on the weekend" to begin with.
This time, I will introduce this while incorporating my own actual experiences.
I hope it serves as some kind of catalyst for those who read it.
Let's start with a few hours on Saturday and Sunday

Personally, I started by taking a few hours of my own time on weekends while fully committing to my weekday corporate sales job.
The first thing I did wasparticipate in "external community activities."These included
networking events and study sessions on thinking about life plans.
Let me say one thing here first.
It is okay to assume you won't change immediately.
First, it is important to take action with the mindset of"taking back at least one thing."
Learn it, and put it into practice immediately.
I recommend starting with small things.
In my case, that was "reading."
*The book summarizing the book reviews I wrote in the past is
here.
Furthermore, I also visited abook clubthat I learned about through an acquaintance's introduction.
Honestly, I was bad at reading and had avoided it with all my might, but I enjoyed interacting with people and becoming friends with the organizer,
and even now, I participate regularly and help liven things up in my own small way (lol).
They are very diligent and loved by participants, for example, by regularly updating activity reports on X.
Outside of the company, start with "a few hours" on the weekend.
This becomesthe first step in building a foundation that does not depend on a company.
However, when starting,
many people think:
"I have nothing."
"I have no skills or track record."
"I feel like I haven't become anyone."
Don't you tend to think that way?
However, it is precisely because you have nothing that you start.
No one waits for everything to be perfectly in place before they move.
By moving, you learn, you understand, and you start wanting to know more. That is how it works.
(Of course, there may be times when you try something and realize it's not for you, but that is also valuable information gained from taking action.)
Invest 3 hours of your weekend in yourself.
Just by doing this, one year later,
3 hours x 8 days (number of weekend days in a month) x 12 months = 288 hours will make a
very significant difference.
Other recommended concrete actions

Reading is of course recommended, but
I would like to introduce other things I have actually tried
that were effective and led to where I am now.
・Read books and output what you felt
・Take online courses in fields you are interested in
・Find and participate in events on portal sites like Tsunagate or Peatix
・Organize your insights using ChatGPT
・Register with a recruitment agency and take stock of your career
The important thing is to spend time on 'things you are interested in'.
What I really strongly feel after doing this is,
more than efficiency, it's passion.
And let's enjoy the process.
A work style that clings only to a company
is honestly tough when you look at life in the long run.
Evaluations and assignments from the company
are ultimately things you cannot control at all.
But you can control the actions you take yourself, right?
However, having a pillar that allows you to provide value outside the company makes a
huge difference in your mental peace of mind.
That is why
I want you to use your 'weekend personal time' as
'sowing seeds' for your own future. That is also a wonderful 'self-investment' for your future self.
And once you start becoming absorbed in something,
you might see a future different from the extension of your current path.
That was actually the case for me.
I never imagined that I would be working as a recruitment agent,
or that I would be working on parallel careers and aiming to start my own business.
You hold the steering wheel of your life.
The first step toward that might be '3 hours on the weekend'.
Come on, you too
try securing 'personal time' on your calendar.
And first of all,
rather than what to do,
focus on 'facing yourself'.
I have a real sense that everything started moving from there.
I hope you all will try it too.
