Short dramas made with AI have been increasing rapidly lately.

I've been watching short dramas since around last summer. I mostly watch them on apps or platforms originating from China.

Over the past three months or so, the works on those apps have been rapidly transforming into all-AI productions.

At first, I was bothered by the slightly awkward movements and facial expressions, so I only watched live-action works, but when I happened to watch one AI work that caught my interest, I found I could watch it quite easily.

There are also many AI short dramas distributed on YouTube, and recently there are channels where individuals create and distribute their own short dramas.
It's an amazing era to think that we have entered a time where an amateur can create a drama all by themselves.

If you're a geek, haven't you ever been driven by the desire to visualize the fantasies in your brain? We have entered an era where you can visualize fantasies like having someone with your ideal face act out a story you set, or imagining an ideal person who doesn't exist in this world, all through AI.

It's taboo to use real people to create AI works, but I think it's fine to create and animate ideal characters that don't exist using AI (it's the same feeling as anime or VTuber characters, right?).

Before long, we might see a hit on YouTube from an AI drama created by a middle school student who loves writing novels.

People who can write stories but can't draw can't become manga artists, but if they can use AI tools to visualize a world that was previously only in text, the line between what is creative and what is not might become blurred.

I'm also a pottery geek, and in the world of ceramics, everything was made by human hands in the distant past, but as industrialization progressed, mass-produced items became quite automated. However, on the other hand, one-of-a-kind pieces by artists have irreplaceable value and remain popular no matter how much mechanization progresses.

Even if works created using AI eventually become established, things made analog will never disappear, and they will surely coexist.

It seems that in China, the work available to actors who appeared in short dramas is decreasing rapidly. That makes sense. In terms of app rankings and YouTube view counts, AI dramas are putting up numbers that rival live-action. It means that viewers are getting used to it, and for many, if the story is interesting and the cast's visuals are to their liking, it doesn't matter whether they are real or fictional.

The value of actors will likely change in the future. If you don't have the value of being 'the only one for this role,' it will become impossible to survive.

I already clearly distinguish between the genres of works I watch with AI and those I watch in live-action. This is because there are things that are better in live-action and things that are better in AI for each. I'll talk about that another time.
