Polar Bear Cup [Haiku] Unauthorized Tudor Awards!
Polar Bear Cup.
There are so many truly wonderful haiku that rather than "choosing," I want to introduce the haiku that resonated with my own sensibilities!
With that in mind,
I would like to introduce them as the
Unauthorized Tudor Awards
...
◆ How I decided
To eliminate any preconceptions about who wrote them, I read only the haiku from the list, narrowed them down from all the entries, and decided on:
the following:
5 Tudor Award winners
4 Tudor Special Award winners
I have decided on these.
First, starting with the 5 Tudor Award winners:
1. Blue to the very edge of the horizon, the winter sky
The expression "edge of the horizon" is dynamic, making this a haiku where one can feel the grandeur of nature.
2. The crunching sound, musical notes visible in the sleet
The crunching sound of footsteps on sleet, and the sensibility of likening that to musical notes is amazing!
3. Winter begins at the mouth, white steam
The steam of white breath exhaled in the cold winter. I love the flow of saying that is where winter begins!
4. Serving rice, my mother's hands, steam rising
My mother's hands serving rice, the rising steam. A heartwarming haiku that realistically expands the scene.
5. The snowy landscape that crushed 'being alive'
I already commented on this haiku, so the author knows, but I was overwhelmed by the expression of crushing 'being alive'!

To everyone I introduced as a Tudor Award winner, thank you for your wonderful haiku ✨
◆ Tudor Special Selection Award
Next, the Tudor Special Selection Award goes to,
・Something more realistic
・Expressions that stimulate the five senses more
・More true-to-life daily life
I narrowed it down further based on my own personal criteria and decided on the Special Selection Award!
1. Winter tree branch patterns floating in the blue sky
The silhouette of dead trees against a clear winter sky!
Indeed, this is a scene we see, isn't it?

Even though you didn't use any descriptive or emotional words,
the mere depiction of the contrast between the blue sky and the winter trees somehow conveyed the loneliness of winter!
2. Knitting a snood with pure white yarn in December
The expression "pure white yarn" vividly stimulates the visual sense, making this a haiku that grabs your heart from the very start.
Knitting a snood for someone during the busy month of December, and using pure white yarn.

It is a simple, yet heartwarming haiku that strikes deep into the heart!
3. The bursting voices of little children, a winter afternoon
Why do children's voices echo so much, I wonder?
Within the dry atmosphere of a winter afternoon,
"Bursting!"
I was very drawn to the way you used that expression.

It is a bright and uplifting haiku that makes it feel as if you can hear the children's voices right now!
4. The drums of the first sale of the year resound at nine in the morning
First sale of the year
Drums
9:00 AM
A haiku with a pleasant, driving rhythm that depicts a lively New Year scene!

.
A visual that conveys the scene of the first sale of the year
The sound of drums echoing
The time of 9:00 AM
Stimulating the "five senses" + "time," yet it conveyed the liveliness and joy of the New Year.
