Hell Yoga: Hobby Edition | Strike Gundam Construction Record: Phase 02 "Body"
After obtaining the "ego (head)," the next thing I faced was this black box called the "torso."
At first glance, it looks like just another plastic model part, but from the perspective of Hell Yoga, it is an extremely surreal "mirror of introspection."
■ 1. The Absurd Container Called the "Torso"
As I assembled the torso of the Strike Gundam, I fell under the illusion that I was peering into the depths of my own gut.
The process of layering the exterior over the complex internal frame one piece at a time. Doesn't it resemble the way humans, amidst the rough waves of society, attach armor called "tatemae" (public facade) to cover up their true feelings?
"What was it that I hid beneath these parts?"
I move the tweezers while repeating that self-questioning.
If this Gundam could scream "my stomach hurts" for me, how much easier would it be? Plastic does not suffer from congestion or inflammation. Its inorganic perfection seems a little enviable, and yet comical, to me right now.
■ 2. The Freedom Called the "Absence" of a Cockpit
In the center of this torso lies an empty space where a pilot should sit—the cockpit.
As I gaze at that chair where no one is sitting yet, a surreal thought crosses my mind.
"Is it really me who is supposed to sit here?"
We usually think we are sitting in the pilot's seat of our own lives.
However, in reality, aren't we just being controlled by an autopilot called "common sense" or "the eyes of others"?
This small plastic chair asks me with its silence:
"Whose will do you intend to use to move this next?"
■ 3. The "True Feelings" Leaking from the Exhaust Ducts
The exhaust ducts lined up on the chest.
What leaks out from here? Is it the heat of a high-performance nuclear engine, or just a tiny "sigh" for surviving modern society?
In Hell Yoga, discharge is purification.
Imagine venting the accumulated heat (stress and absurdity) out through these ducts with a hiss.
Even if your physical body is being controlled, you want to keep the exhaust port of your spirit clean at all times.

The torso is finished.
It is still just a "box" with no arms or legs, but there is a strange sense of fulfillment in it.
Building a vessel is preparing to accept yourself.
While carrying a restricted body, I continue to polish this "core" nonetheless.
That is my way of fighting, noble yet slightly strange, known as Hell Yoga.
Namaste.
