[No. 0] How I Came to Share My Perspective as a Father in Middle School Entrance Exam Prep
[2/11/26: Table of Contents Updated]

Hello.
I am a
dad struggling with middle school entrance exams who is currently taking on the challenge of my child's middle school entrance exams.
As you can tell from my name,
I have absolutely no writing talent,
but it is fate that we met here.
I look forward to your support.
Since I'm a pitiful person,
please make yourself at home.
※I will quietly leave my son's achievements (currently being updated) at the end of the post, so please take a look only if you are curious or interested. Note that proper nouns and other details have been blurred as appropriate to ensure individual privacy.
1) Introduction - Why am I sharing this?
I have been vaguely thinking about this
for quite some time.
While facing the middle school entrance exam process,
I wanted to preserve this valuable experience in some form.
I am a
"father with one foot in the world of middle school entrance exams"
.
In a world generally perceived as being "mother-led,"
I think I am a bit of an outlier.
Still, the reason I wanted to
write it down here is because, between my child's efforts and the parents' struggles,
"what I felt and how I tried to support them"
because my memory has started to get worse.
is something I wanted to record.
When my son was born,
I wasn't thinking about middle school entrance exams at all.
In fact,
I remember having negative opinions like,
"Is it really necessary to take an exam to enter middle school?"
"What about the child's feelings??"
Later, when my son started to like studying
(unfortunately, he didn't have many other interests),
the number of lessons he took for the exams
gradually increased.
At first, I just couldn't stand being called
"uncooperative" as a father.
I think there was an impure motive like that too.
However, now I have come to want to
"support my son with all my might."
2) To the readers: Who should read this
■ Fathers and mothers involved in middle school entrance exams ■ Parents struggling with their roles at home ■ Those who are not swayed by information from cram schools or mock exams and are looking for their own "family-style" policy ■ Those who want to hear real voices from other families ■ Those who have experienced entrance exams in the past ■ Parents who are wondering what to have their children do from now on
I hope that I can provide
even a little bit of a hint or peace of mind
to such people.
3) Article style and update policy
This note is structured
around the following themes.
■ Study policy improvements based on our family's real experiences ■ How to interpret and deal with mock exam and test results ■ How to interact and maintain distance as a father at home ■ Sometimes conflicts with children, and rebuilding relationships
I am aiming to update this series once a week.
Each theme will focus on
daily life, lessons,
cram school and national mock exam results,
and whatever I want to introduce at that time,
but I hope to respond to requests and needs from everyone
as much as possible (looking into the distance).
4) About free and paid articles
■ In the free part...
・Parent-child interactions
・Frank reactions to mock exam results
・Easy-to-read content that values empathy
■ In the paid part...
・Actual scores, deviation scores, and subject-by-subject analysis
・Specific study strategies and how to use teaching materials
・Background information such as "why we chose this method," which is easy to apply at home
If you like what you read, I would be happy if you could support me by subscribing to paid articles or signing up for a premium membership.
(I will jump for joy. And dance.)
5) Conclusion: To keep going while still feeling uncertain
To be honest, the reason I keep sharing is because of the hope that it might be useful to someone, and because I am encouraged myself by knowing that someone is watching.
A record of a family trying to move forward while feeling uncertain and going through trial and error.
I would be happy if you could read it as such.
