Bankara Girl's Summer: Embers of Summer

Azami took a small fire pit out of her bike, placed it on the sandy beach, set some firewood, and lit it.
For a while, the two of us watched the fire.
Thinking that summer would soon be over made me feel sad. I wondered if Azami would be heading out on another journey.

The summer sea is pitch black and scary. As I listened to the sound of the tide and looked up at the sky, a sky full of stars was shining.
Azami pointed at the night sky and said,
"That's Deneb, right? And that one and that one are Altair and Vega. It's the Summer Triangle."
"Oh, I see. You know a lot about this."
"Yeah, I looked it up because I often watched the night sky while I was traveling. The stars I saw at Mount Yotei were beautiful."
I let my thoughts drift to Azami's travels and felt a sense of romance. A world I don't know. It must be tough, though.
"I even thought of you, Misaki-chan, while watching the stars."
"I thought of you every day."
"Really? Thanks. You know, I once shouted 'Misaki!' toward the sunset on a beach by the Sea of Japan. Didn't you hear it?"
I thought about saying, 'There's no way I could hear that,' but I stopped myself.
"I heard it clearly. With my heart."
"I see. We really are connected, aren't we?"
Azami laughed happily.
Come to think of it, I did feel like I had heard a voice like that.
"Then, I'm going to send you a telepathic message now."
"Huh?"
Azami said that and closed her eyes.
"...How is it? Did it reach you properly?"
"Hmm, not yet, I think."
Azami opened her eyes slightly and pressed her forehead against mine. It felt ticklish, and I couldn't help but laugh.
"There, it reached me properly. Now it's my turn."
This time, I squeezed my eyes shut and sent my thoughts with all my might.
"I sent it."
"Hmm, it didn't reach me."
"Then, here's my reply."
I tried to imitate her and press my forehead against Azami's, but I put too much force into it and we bumped heads with a thud.
We laughed until we rolled on the ground for a while.
"Hehe, did it reach you?"
"Yeah, it came through."
"Then let's check our answers on the count of three."
"Yeah, okay."
"Alright, one, two, three."
"I love you!"
The sky was sparkling with a sky full of stars.
