INDYWORLD 4STEPS ENGLISH 10 'Is Married Life a Daily Crisis?'

[A Word from Indy-sensei This Week]
"Having pronunciation that's too good is a sin too, Taro. But hey, learning words is all about deepening love!"
🌴 (Munching on Hawaiian beef jerky behind Alexandra-sensei's back)
[Story]
Taro: (In an aloha shirt)
"We’re home, Indy! Alex!"
Indy-sensei:
"Welcome back, Taro. Miki."
Taro:
"Hawaii was amazing. ...But, (whispering) some tough things happened too. When I was practicing Presley on the beach, a local girl kissed me. Then Miki got incredibly angry..."
Miki: (Dropping a pile of souvenirs with a thud)
"Of course I did! 'No Presley except in front of me!' That sweet sound of yours is a public nuisance. You can't go spreading it around elsewhere!"
Indy-sensei: (Grinning) "...Oh?"
Taro: (With a dejected face)
"I'm not that happy about it..."
Miki:
"You were super happy!! That was just a greeting, a greeting! Ugh, so annoying!"
Taro: (Whispering)
"I tried desperately to smooth things over by saying it was a song dedicated to Miki. I said, 'You’re the most beautiful woman here. I love you.'"
Indy-sensei:
"Well, that's a good attitude. You always have to smooth things over with your wife. Taro, listen. Married life hits a crisis on days that have a 'three' in them."
Taro: "Days with a 'three'?"
Indy-sensei (holding up a finger):
Marriage hits a crisis on the third day.
On the third month.
And on the third year.
After the third year… it’s a crisis every day!
Taro & Miki: (Looking at each other) "...!"
Indy-sensei: (Glancing at Alexandra)
"...After the third year, it's a crisis every day."
Alexandra: (Quietly closing her book)
"Even if you try to cover it up by saying it like a famous quote in English, the facts don't change."
[Chapter 9 Mini-Explanation: 'Housing' Your Vocabulary] [Study Elements]
① How to use 'crisis'
crisis = crisis / serious problem
hit a crisis
face a crisis
be in crisis
Example:
Our marriage is in crisis.
The company hit a financial crisis.
👉 "in crisis" is a state
👉 "hit a crisis" is an event
② How to say 'the third day' or 'the third month'
on the third day
on the third month (*usually 'after three months' is more natural)
in the third year (we also use 'in' for years)
👉 Use 'on' for dates
👉 Use 'in' or 'after' for periods of years/months
③ Expanding emotional vocabulary
The theme this time is
Learning from emotions, not from a wordbook.
Example:
Anger
upset
annoyed
furious
Love
beautiful
precious
the only one
When you learn from 'situations where you really want to use them,' words become 'experiences' rather than 'memories'.
[Indy-sensei's Editor's Note]
"No Presley," huh... Miki, your possessiveness is in full swing.
But that is also proof that a soul has taken residence in Taro's 'sound'.
When your pronunciation changes, the world's reaction changes.
When the world's reaction changes, you want more words.
That is 'vocabulary desire'.
Next time (Chapter 10),
I will reveal some special new materials that arrived from Alexandra-sensei's library!
It's a challenge with a long text.
Be prepared.

...
Alexandra: "A card has arrived from Taro and the others."
Indy-sensei: "How is it?"
