Writing my first note. Starting with a quote from my 3-year-old.
I am a mother of two daughters born in the same year.
I live a lively life with my husband and our daughters who attend nursery school.
Every day is a rush, and I find myself shouting "Oh no!" or just when I think I can take a breath, something funny happens.
One way or another, I'm kept laughing every single day.
I've had a note account for a while, but I've always just been a reader.
But recently, there was an event that made me think, "I really want to write this down."
That's what inspired me to start writing, nice and easy.
At our house, my husband often reads picture books or folktales to the kids before they go to sleep.
Today, he read the Rakugo story "Manju Kowai" (The Manju Scare).
It's a story with a punchline where a man says he's "scared of manju" but actually loves them to death, and by pretending to be scared, he ends up getting a ton of them.
After he finished reading, my 3-year-old second daughter muttered one thing.
"I am scared of yogurt."
(*My second daughter loves yogurt so much she eats it every morning!)
Wait, what!? Did she actually understand the punchline of the Rakugo story and apply it to herself!?
At three years old!?
I couldn't help but shower her with praise, saying, "You're a genius!?" (lol)
Following that, we decided to have the whole family say what they were "scared of."
"Mom is scared of spicy food."
"I am... scared of ghosts," said my eldest daughter.
Me: "That's actually scary! (lol)"
And then, my husband muttered at the end.
"Dad is... scared of his wife."
...I wonder which meaning that was? (lol)
