Dinner | I tried making kamameshi as a disaster drill
On a typical Saturday, I go out to shop and just get deli food from the supermarket, but
today there was something I wanted to try.
Making takikomi gohan (mixed rice) using a solid fuel kamameshi set.
I bought it for disaster preparedness, but I wanted to try using it once.

For one cup of rice, the ingredients are chicken, thin fried tofu, carrots, and fresh shiitake mushrooms.
The soy sauce, sake, and mirin are one tablespoon each. Also, about 1/2 teaspoon of dashi stock powder.

The solid fuel is 25g. It is said that 20-25g is good for one cup of rice.
I heated it until the flame went out, and once it did, I let it steam for about 15 minutes.

Oh, it cooked successfully. It smelled great while it was boiling.

I like mild flavors, so I used one tablespoon of soy sauce, but maybe a little more would be fine. Maybe adding some chicken stock powder would be good too. I was late in washing the rice, so the soaking time was short, and perhaps because of that, it went past the point of having a nice crust and burned a bit black at the bottom. There was some nice crust too, though.
It was my first time trying this, but Mom was happy and ate a lot, saying it was delicious.
(She doesn't usually eat much rice.)
With this, I feel like I'll be able to eat delicious rice even if there's a power outage.
