5 Charms of the Bering Wolffish
It is summarized by its ecology that you wouldn't imagine from its rugged appearance and its special presence in the northern seas.
There are other charms, but I will list 5 of them here.
This time, I will introduce the Bering wolffish.
An appearance with outstanding impact
With a large head, a wrinkled face, and sharp fangs, its appearance is just like a "wolf of the sea." Its intensity, which makes you feel "scared," and its unique expressions make it a particularly eye-catching presence even in aquariums.

A timid personality that contradicts its appearance
In contrast to its rugged face, its personality is surprisingly gentle, and its movements are slow and relaxed. Because it is usually calm, that gap in personality has gained popularity as a charming trait.

Powerful jaws and teeth
Equipped with sharp teeth on its upper and lower jaws, it can crunch and eat hard prey such as bivalves, sea urchins, and crabs. This tough predatory ability is also one of its charms.

A lucky charm called the "Fish of the Gods"
In the Ainu language, it is called "Chip Kamuy" (Fish of the Gods), and it is known locally as a lucky fish, with legends saying that when it is caught, there will be a bountiful herring catch.

A rare existence living in the northern seas
It mainly inhabits cold deep waters from north of Ibaraki and Niigata Prefectures to the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, and it is an extremely rare fish that is rarely seen in Japanese markets. Its scarcity also enhances its charm.

Combined with these characteristics, the Bering wolffish attracts many people.
