・Mission for [Day 2]
① At the 'Historical Village',
enjoy a pilgrimage to Golden Kamuy sacred sites!
② At the 'Historical Village',
experience the pioneering spirit of the Meiji era!
③ At the 'Historical Village',
find interesting things and delicious food🔍
The vast Historical Village is an open-air museum established in 1989 to preserve for future generations the lives of people who lived resiliently during the pioneering era of the Meiji and Taisho periods.
That spirit is truly the world of Golden Kamuy itself. For us modern people, who are becoming too intellectual and losing our human resilience, the lives of those in the Meiji pioneering era who faced (wild) nature and tried to carve out human civilization there, I feel, give us, along with Golden Kamuy, a necessary and important message for us today.
I want to fully enjoy the Historical Village with the heart of a child.
① Enjoy a Golden Kamuy pilgrimage at the 'Historical Village'!

a list of Golden Kamuy model buildings & appearance scenes
is posted.

it is convenient to take a picture
so you can check it during your tour.

is precisely reproduced.

had their photos taken at this photo studio

A heartbreaking scene🥺

2. Experience the pioneering spirit of the Meiji era at 'Historical Village of Hokkaido'!

This was the standard until before the war!

People in the old days used to carry these on their backs

there is a model of herring fishing

used the model to explain things
very clearly.
I can realistically imagine
the herring fishing from Golden Kamuy.
You should definitely listen to the explanation.
I highly recommend it!

The female workers at the Tomioka Silk Mill did the same

*There was an explanation of the silk reeling process at the Tomioka Silk Mill, so I've included it here for reference ⇩

The painting on it, which feels both gentle and scary, is typical of the old days

To drink water,
they stored water in jars,
to eat,
they grew rice and carried straw bags,
they fed firewood into the stove and started fires with flint,
they caught herring and carried them in baskets,
to wear clothes,
they raised silkworms, reeled thread, and wove fabric,
they hand-washed dirty clothes in cold water,
for the dark nights,
they devised lamps and lanterns, and kept warm,
to transport goods and people,
they cared for horses and built horse-drawn sleighs,
to live better,
the pioneers worked desperately hard
In every building and tool in the Historical Village,
you can feel the vitality of the people of the Meiji and Taisho eras who cleared the wilderness of Hokkaido and tried to create a better world.
Living is essentially a time-consuming process,
and the people of the Meiji era overcame that effort to achieve progress!
Thinking about that, I realized that in my daily life, which has become convenient and requires little effort, I might have started to begrudge the 'effort for progress' needed to create better things.
I want to strive for that 'effort for progress' once again!
I received the energy of the Meiji pioneers💪
・③ Find interesting and delicious things at the 'Historical Village'🔍
[Horse-drawn carriage]
The fare is a bargain at ¥250, but it's limited to the first 10 people, so
if you want to ride, check the timetable and line up early

the Dosanko horse-drawn carriage runs

The Dosanko horse is super powerful to pull that weight along so easily❗️

・Conclusion
I came to the 'Historical Village of Hokkaido' for a Golden Kamuy pilgrimage, and with a ¥1000 entrance fee and a 5-hour stay, there was much more Golden Kamuy-related content than I expected, making it a place where you can enjoy many things. It was a trip where I could enjoy the autumn colors, but it seems like it would be fun in a different way during the snowy season, so this trip to the 'Historical Village of Hokkaido' left me wanting to come back again if I have the chance.
