Why I, a person who can hear, attend 'Rakugo with Subtitles'🌿
The other day, I went to listen to Rakugo with subtitles.
"Subtitles for Rakugo?"
Some people might think that.
The system used this time was a
real-time subtitle display system called "VUEVO".

The spoken words are converted into text on the spot and
displayed on a large screen behind the performer.
Because the words appear one after another in time with the tempo of the Rakugo,
it is easier for those who have difficulty hearing to follow the story,
and it is designed so that everyone can enjoy it in the same space.
There were many elderly people at the venue.
There are not a few people who feel difficulty in hearing due to aging.
In such a situation, having the consideration of subtitles
allows more people to enjoy Rakugo.
The venue was filled with a lot of laughter.
People who can hear and people who have difficulty hearing
laughing together in the same space.
That scene was very natural and warm.

Actually, this is my fourth time participating.
I moved and the venue is further away than before,
but I still want to go.
On the way home, I was thinking.
"Why do I want to come here so much?"
Of course, it is because Rakugo itself
is very interesting.
This time, too, I was laughing the whole time.
However, I feel it is not just that.
What I am attracted to
is not just the fun of Rakugo,
but perhaps the gentle worldview behind it
that "everyone can enjoy."
Subtitles are a consideration for those who have difficulty hearing.
But, the sense of security and comfort created by that consideration
feels like it reaches everyone
who is there.
I myself, without realizing it,
may have been healed
by such a warm atmosphere.
That is why,
even if it gets further away, I want to go again.
This time, too, I laughed a lot
and received a lot of energy.
May this world of gentle laughter
continue to spread even further from here on out😊🌈
