#A Summer Snapshot

This was about 40 years ago.
It happened on a summer morning.

"I want to go to radio calisthenics too!"

My little brother, who was 7 years younger than me
and only 2 years old at the time,
suddenly blurted that out 😊

It was the Showa era.
Back then, there was a sort of unspoken rule
that everyone had to participate in radio calisthenics every morning,
wasn't there? 😅

Unable to resist that trend,
I also participated every morning, rubbing my sleepy eyes,
just to get my attendance stamp,
doing it quite reluctantly 😅

Faced with such a lackluster
summer morning routine,
suddenly, "he" appeared 😆

"Seriously!?"
I don't think that phrase even existed back then... 🤔

But in terms of how I felt,
"Seriously!?"
was the perfect fit
for the situation.

Why, you ask...
Because radio calisthenics
had no appeal whatsoever,
it was just a tedious routine.

But perhaps to him,
his big sister, who went out somewhere every morning

with a radio calisthenics card around her neck,
looked like she was having a bit of fun 😅

So, my mother immediately asked me,
"Hey, Non-chan (me),
could you take Ak-kun (him) along with you?"
she asked 😅

"Yeah, sure!"
I answered immediately. (Probably) 💦

To me, my little brother, who was much younger,
was just so, so cute 😊💗

I never even thought we could go together,
so I was incredibly happy 🎵😊

Thanks to having him tag along,
my motivation for radio calisthenics,
which I had been so reluctant about, skyrocketed ⤴😊

However...
Was he satisfied after going once?
Or was it not as fun as he thought?
Having him tag along was just that one time (lol)

From the next morning on, I returned
to my usual solo mode ⤵😅

And what I discovered after this was,
it seems my brother
had been interested in
that radio calisthenics card all along (lol)

Once I realized that,
I immediately made him
a handmade
radio calisthenics card 😊💳

Of course, I attached a string to it,
and when I hung it around his neck,
he had such a big, happy
smile on his face 😊✨

For a while after that, he would walk around the house
wearing his radio calisthenics card
hanging from his neck (lol)

I see, so this is what you wanted 💗
It's a joy to be a big sister! 🥰

That "little boy" is
now a proud father of two 😊✨

Someday, I'll tell this story
to my niece and nephew
as a little secret 😁
