[Bear x Coexistence Hackathon Day 1]

As part of Ishikawa Prefecture's open data utilization project,
we held a hackathon event co-hosted by Kanazawa City and IUDC.

Our representative, Hanyuda, gave a lecture during the input session
and served as the facilitator for the first half of the session.

With about 50 participants from universities, local businesses, and the government,
we are thinking about the social issue of coexistence with Asian black bears
through a data and digital approach.

In order to help more people understand the social issue of coexistence with Asian black bears,
this is a challenge to try and raise awareness starting from the digital field.

We invited Professor Oi from Ishikawa Prefectural University, an expert on bears,
for a solid 30-minute lecture.

The professor's wonderful lecture captured the hearts of the audience, and at the same time,
we were able to share a sense of crisis that,
"Even though Asian black bears are so close to us,
we know nothing about them!"

Administrative issues are always difficult,
but I realized that it is important not only to think about them with government officials who have specialized knowledge,
but also to create a space for open discussion with citizens and residents.

From here, there is a two-month development period
until the results presentation on Day 2 (Saturday, September 27).

In the Day 1 ideathon,
ideas such as:
・Educational app about bear ecology
・Adding bear information to trash-free apps
・AI-powered sighting predictions
・Crowdfunding x Bait x Hunting
・Real-time information sharing app
・AR x AI x Range prediction
were proposed by each team,
and for the Day 2 presentation,they will not only have ideas but will actually build them.

Ishikawa Prefecture has many passionate students, as well as highly skilled, eccentric, and brilliant engineers, and many bear experts!

Seeing professionals with high presentation and technical skills
shining right in front of them should be an inspiration to the local students.
And by watching the activities and attitudes of the students,
the adults should also be inspired.

The OPEN DATA DAY ISHIKAWA logo was completed,
and the cigarette cards we unofficially reprinted were also very well received.

The open data community in Ishikawa Prefecture
might just become something amazing.

It was such an exciting event!
