After reading 'Money University', I decided to face my financial anxieties
Until now, I didn't really understand money very well.
I had thought that I should study money, but I didn't know where to start—taxes, insurance, investments, household budget management—and it all felt a bit difficult.
At that time, I noticed 'Money University' always placed in a prominent spot at the bookstore, so I decided to give it a read.
To be honest, the reason I read it was because I had anxiety about my future finances.
The first thing I thought after reading this book was,
“This is content I wish they taught in Japanese education as well.”
That was it.
I learned that to save money, it's not just about cutting costs, but that the five powers of “saving, earning, growing, protecting, and spending” are important.
Until now, I had only really thought about “earning” and “saving.”
But the book explained things like taxes, reviewing insurance, investments, stocks, and how to organize household finances in an easy-to-understand way using illustrations.
The phrase that particularly stayed with me was,
“In this one life, today is the youngest day you will ever be.”
That phrase.
Even if there were things I didn't know before, I can just start learning from today.
If I take small steps starting today, I can change my future.
That's what I came to believe.
Honestly, I thought this content was too cheap at 1,500 yen plus tax.
It was so educational for me that it would be worth buying even for 20,000 yen.
However, it was a bit difficult for me to understand everything just by reading it once.
That is exactly why I want to read it over and over again and gradually incorporate it into my own life.
First of all, instead of trying to do everything I learned in the book, I think I will start by reviewing my household budget.
After that, I would like to gradually look into reviewing my insurance and taxes as well.
Until now, I thought that the only tax savings available to company employees was 'Furusato Nozei' (hometown tax donation).
However, after reading this book, I learned about the concept of business income for the first time.
I don't fully understand it yet, but I feel like I've taken a step forward compared to 'not knowing at all'.
'Money University' is the perfect first book for anyone who wants to start learning about money.
Today is the youngest day of your life.
That is why I want to start learning about money little by little, starting today.
