How to Be Happy: 'Creating an End'
First, a little bit about this flower.
The one I chose for the top image is
the 'Chocolate Cosmos',
which has a scent like chocolate.
Its flower language is 'the end of love'.
While this may sound a bit sad,
it actually holds a very important meaning.
Because there is an end, the next thing begins.
By accepting an end,
space for new happiness is created.
I feel that this message
is embedded in this flower.
Today,
I would like to think about happiness
through the method of 'creating an end'.
Carrying too much by not letting things end
We tend to place value on 'continuing'.
・I don't want to quit because I went to the trouble of starting.
・It would be a waste since I've continued this far.
・If I just endure it, it will surely get better.
By doing so, before we know it,
we continue to carry many things.
But among them,
there must be things that have already served their purpose.
・Relationships that continue out of inertia
・Habits kept only out of a sense of duty
・Goals that you don't actually desire
It's over, yet you haven't ended it.
That is often the true nature of the heaviness in our hearts.
'An end' is not a loss
When we hear the word 'end',
many people think of 'losing something'.
But in reality, that is not the case.
An end is
'drawing a line'.
・Closing a book you have finished reading.
・Being grateful for something that has served its purpose.
・Being honest with your own feelings.
It is not about throwing something away, but
an act of acknowledging that 'this was as far as it went'.
By bringing things to an end,
there are things you see for the first time.
By bringing things to an end,
there are things you can finally let go of.
Creating an end creates space
People's time and hearts are finite.
Unless you end something,
nothing new will come in.
It is the same as not being able to put new clothes in a closet
that is already full.
・Stop doing things you don't have to do
・Let go of values that no longer fit
・Distance yourself from relationships that are straining you
When you create an end like that,
space is created little by little.
It is in that space
that truly important things will enter.
The courage to end things is valuing yourself
It takes a little courage to create an end.
Because,
it feels like you are denying your past self.
But in reality, it is the opposite.
Ending something
is not about denying the past, but
acknowledging the 'self who worked hard until now'.
And it is a choice to value your future self.
When you are still unsure
Try thinking about it this way.
'Will this make my future self happy?'
If you feel the answer is 'no',
it might be the time to create an end.
What lies beyond the end
The flower language of the Chocolate Cosmos is
'the end of love'.
Beyond that, there is always a new story.
An end is not a stop.
It is preparation for moving on to the next step.
Creating an end is
giving space to your future self.
Continuing to carry things is not always kindness,
and letting go can sometimes be the strength to move forward.
Within you,
what is something you can let end?
May that choice
make you happy from here on out.
