How to be happy: 'It's up to you'
The top image is of 'Indigo'.
It is used for indigo dyeing.
I really love the blue color dyed with indigo,
and I have experienced indigo dyeing many times.
Even if you dye it the same way, it has a unique charm each time.
T-shirts, socks, handkerchiefs.
They are all my favorites.
It is said to be the world's oldest blue dye,
and is called JAPAN BLUE.
The flower language of indigo is 'It's up to you'.
Even with the same event,
the meaning of life changes depending on how you perceive it.
It is a flower that teaches us that essence.
The sense of discomfort of 'I've come this far'
Up until now, I have worked hard.
In my work, my life, and my preparations for the future.
Even so, this feeling sometimes crosses my mind.
'Is it really okay to go on like this?'
I am doing what I should be doing.
From the outside, it might look like things are going well.
But, I am not fully satisfied somewhere.
That is surely not because 'I am lacking something',
but perhaps because I have left my own feelings behind.
Even in the same life, the meaning can be changed
Even in the same day,
it can be a 'tired day',
or it can be a 'day I worked hard'.
Even with the same event,
you can think 'I lost out',
or you can think 'I learned something'.
Reality itself hardly changes.
What changes is the meaning you give it.
And that meaning,
is not something decided by someone else,
but something you can decide for yourself.
Are you letting the 'outside' decide your happiness?
- If I had more leeway
- If I were more appreciated
- If I felt more secure
Aren't you thinking that if that happens, you will be happy?
Of course, those things are important.
But, you won't be satisfied with just that.
You need to change your perspective just a little.
Happiness is not in 'conditions',
but in the attitude of
'how you perceive things'.
Returning the initiative to yourself
In your daily life, aren't you making these choices unconsciously?
- Deciding your actions based on how others see you
- Continuing to choose the path that seems like the 'correct answer'
- Accepting things with 'it can't be helped'
Change that, little by little.
- Prioritize how you feel
- Do not ignore small feelings of discomfort
- Choose options you can be satisfied with
You don't need to change things in a big way.
Just a little bit,
just 'returning to yourself' is enough.
The slightly strict, yet kind way of thinking that 'it's up to you'
When you hear 'it's up to you',
you might feel like
everything is your own responsibility.
But actually, it's the opposite.
You don't have to keep being bound by your environment or your past.
You don't have to entrust your life to someone else's evaluation.
In other words,
you can choose how you feel from now on.
It is a very free way of thinking.
You don't have to be perfect
Even if you 'decide for yourself',
you don't always have to make the right choice.
It's okay to get lost, and it's okay to make mistakes.
Rather,
- Getting lost
- Worrying
- Taking a detour
All of that
can have meaning later on.
That meaning, too,
is something that changes depending on you.
Summary
What you have built up until now
is never a waste.
However, that alone is not enough to be satisfied.
What is important next is 'how to live'.
Not what you have,
but how you perceive it.
Not what your situation is,
but how you give it meaning.
Happiness is not something that exists somewhere,
but something you decide within yourself.
Like the flower language of indigo,
your life from now on is 'up to you'.
What kind of meaning will you give to today's events?
You can already start changing from there.
