Queen Marika's Essays in Idleness / Part 43: Let's Sprinkle Water
Hello there⭐️ It's Queen Marika😆
The heatwave continues, and it feels like we're going to collapse every day😵
Just as I thought that, a typhoon approached, and while the news is full of reports about heavy rain hitting various parts of Japan, I find myself posting this...😖
The content of this post is something I should have been calling for since around June😢
But, it's not too late yet!
So, I'm going to make my appeal!
Part 43: Let's Sprinkle Water
It's just as the title says.
Instead of just throwing away the leftover bath water, let's sprinkle it. I wonder, is there about 150 to 180 liters of it? Let's make good use of it.
The reason is...
The other day, there was a water-sprinkling event at Hibiya Park.
Or rather, is it something they do every year?
Godzilla showed up and promoted the water-sprinkling.
(I'm worried about the person inside the suit😨)

Godzilla also appeared!
And, later on, the results were reported on their website,
"Look how much the temperature dropped!"
they say to promote it...
But, I have a strong feeling about this...😅
Looking at those results, how many people actually think, "I'll do it too!" and put it into practice?
At the very least, in my neighborhood, only my mother and I are doing it.
Is this really okay!!!!!!
That's what I really think😖
Instead of saying, "It doesn't matter if just I do it..."
Let's have the spirit of "Even if it's just me!"
Or rather, even if it's a small effort, everyone has to think about it seriously. It might be too late, but that's how I've been feeling lately😔
I mean, it's dangerous even if we've become accustomed to hearing temperatures like 37°C.
Almost every day, the temperature is higher than our body temperature.
We've gotten used to the numbers, but if you stop and think about what a temperature of 37°C or 38°C actually feels like, it's truly dangerous.
That's why we have to put a stop to it!!
I know there are some of you living on the high floors of tower mansions who might find it difficult to do even if you wanted to...
But let's do something within our own capabilities!
I am slightly hopeful that those who read this will take some kind of action, whether starting tomorrow or next year.🙇♀️
And so~.
Since this is a Marika essay, I'll briefly explain the principle of how sprinkling water cools things down.😁
When water turns into water vapor, it absorbs heat from its surroundings (this is what we call heat of vaporization).
Using that mechanism, we sprinkle water on the ground, let the water absorb the surrounding heat, and cool down the ground and the air!
That is the trick behind Uchimizu.
The intended effect is the same as when your body sweats because it's hot.
The function of plant transpiration also relies on cooling using the heat of vaporization.
(For more on transpiration, please check the link below)
By the way, there are some points to keep in mind when doing Uchimizu.
As is often said, it is recommended to sprinkle water at dawn or in the evening. Also, it is better to sprinkle water in the shade rather than in direct sunlight.
Why?
The purpose of Uchimizu is not 'to evaporate water,' but 'to have the water absorb heat from the ground and the air'.
If you sprinkle water during times or in places with strong sunlight, the water will evaporate by being warmed by the sunlight (absorbing heat from the sunlight).
In this case, the heat absorbed from the ground and air will decrease.
That's the story.
Now that you roughly understand the mechanism, those who can, let's do Uchimizu!
That's all for this time, I've become a promoter of Uchimizu.😆
