Watching the Play "The Story of Kyutaro Takami" - A Night Filled with Passion
The story depicts the life of Kyutaro Takami, a native of Koga City who was active as a magazine editor during the Taisho era and founded the picture magazine "Kodomo no Kuni."
The cast consisted mainly of local amateur theater troupes, members of neighboring civic theater groups, and Koga Ambassadors
actors Takashi Inoue and Yuta Watanabe.
It was a long production of nearly three hours, but as the story progressed, I was drawn in more and more,
and before I knew it, it was time for the curtain call!
First, what I felt...
I thought the script was simply wonderful.
I imagine it must have been a great struggle to write it based on so few documents and materials.
Sometimes comical, sometimes serious...
The sensation of words being skillfully layered...
Before I knew it, my own emotions were drawn to the warm and passionate personalities of Kyutaro, Doppo Kunikida, Ujo Noguchi,
and the friends and family who supported them,
and there were even moments when tears spilled from my eyes.
Takashi Inoue and Yuta Watanabe were, as expected, excellent!
The moment they appeared... I found myself leaning forward to watch them!
And
the other actors also gave performances so passionate that you wouldn't believe they were amateurs!
Their characters were well-defined,
and it was a charming performance.
With a short rehearsal period, balancing work, memorizing lines, and practicing... I have nothing but respect for them.
They say that "what one likes, one does well," but
it was a stage production where the
"love" of all the actors truly came through.
The passion for literature and magazine editing held by Kyutaro, Utsuho Kubota, Doppo, and Ujo in the story...
and the passion for their "love" held by the actors and staff who created the stage...
People with high aspirations and passion,
people who live with "love" for what they do,
are truly vibrant...
and I felt they were dazzling.
I am also a sort of part-time member of an amateur theater troupe...
I'm in a position where I participate occasionally when called upon...
but right now, with caring for my elderly mother and my grandchildren,
I have no time or mental space,
and I'm in a situation where I can't be involved in theater...
Still...
I want to experience the extraordinary world of the stage again someday!
I want to enjoy my "love" for it, just a little!
That was the kind of night it was.
Everyone on that stage truly
looked like they were shining.

Thank you very much.
A little bonus monologue♪
Takami... Doppo... Ujo... they are such lovely names.
Utsuho-san... so it's written as "Utsuho"...
It's just... nice.
Thank you for reading
until the end.
