"The next car I buy is my favorite" (｀・ω・´) sharp

In an interview in my favorite JAF Mate magazine,

when Masataka Matsutoya was asked what his favorite car was,

"The cars I've driven so far are tied to the memories of those times, so there's no way to compare them."

After prefacing it with that,

"Let's put it this way: 'The next car I buy is my favorite.'"

Seeing him give that answer, I felt a sense of empathy with my whole heart and soul.

What a stylish and chic way to put it...

(My whole being trembled)

It was such a refreshing feeling, as if he had perfectly put into wordsmy own concept of 'favorite' regarding things.Exactly.

Exactly.

The successive beloved cars I've driven until now.

For the last five cars my spouse and I have owned, we've been fortunate enough to be able to drive cars that we could feel excited about, thinking,'This is the best choice I could make with what I can afford right now! This car is the best!'within our preferences and budget at the time.

Of course, there are endless amazing cars in the world, but I'm the one driving.

As long as I can think that way myself, that's all that matters.

Every time I see our car parked in the parking lot,
I get that creepy grin on my face.

But,
even the cars I encountered since getting my license before that,

'Any car is fine as long as I can buy it for a million yen total! Preferably a nearly new one!'

when I made unreasonable demands to the car dealer my parents had been using for generations, were all the best, one-of-a-kind partners to me.

Therefore,"favorite"is not something you can decide so easily.

I think my current car is the best, but
the car I had before, which I had to let go of with tears in my eyes because I was moving to an area where a car wasn't needed due to family circumstances, was also a car I loved so much I wanted to buy it again.

However,
the reason I didn't buy the same car again was because of changes in my living environment and how I wanted to use it.

And, the day-by-day, month-by-month evolution of cars.

People change, and tools change too.

I think that's fine.

That is why,

"The next car I buy is my favorite"

I thought this phrase was wonderful, as it makes me look forward to the future as well.

I don't think this is limited to cars at all.

I think it applies to all things and places.

As long as it's within the scope of what I can do at the time, I want to keep making the effort to find things that I can believe were the best.

I hope that in my life from here on out, I can continue to have encounters with things that excite me, allowing me to update my
"favorite"in that way.

I was so happy to have come across this phrase that I wrote a post as a memo.

Writing on note really goes well under a kotatsu.
