My Mother and the Shadow of That Day | Everyone's Word Notebook
I am participating in the project by Rin Kiki of the Writing Department.
When I was little, my mother always walked with her parasol tilted toward me. Matching my stride, she created a small shadow for me amidst the harsh sunlight.
I didn't know back then. That a shadow is a kindness that matches someone else's stride.
Now that I am a mother, I walk matching my daughter's stride. Tilting my parasol slightly, I am now the one creating the shadow that my mother once gave me.
Then, something black fell from the parasol and scurried away, rustling as it went.
I see.
It's almost the season for cockroaches.
