Should You Study Writing?
There are many eccentrics on note who struggle to write.
Even though the vast majority of people find writing difficult.
Well, I am one of those eccentrics myself, and these "writing eccentrics" generally share the same worries.
That is, wanting to write more "skillfully," "readably," and "uniquely."
Those eccentrics who post articles on note are not satisfied with just writing; they are also eccentrics who wish for their writing to be read.
So, these eccentrics search for "how to write" or "how to write on note" on note, or try to study through books.
I have some experience with that too.
After all, I am a fine eccentric myself.
Now, here is a question.
Are you able to put what you have studied into practice?
I can proudly say "no".nois what I can proudly say.
Or rather, the correct answer is probably that I hardly remember any of it.
Even though I went to the trouble of reading it.
So, does that mean it was meaningless? Not necessarily.
Even if the memory is as thin as prosciutto, there must be a difference in the writing I do later compared to if I had never chewed on that information at all.
That is what I believe.
So, what I want to say in this article is this.
The anxiety that "studying might cause me to lose my originality"
is just a groundless fear.
Just as ladies might mistakenly think that "if I do strength training, my body will get bulky," some people mistakenly think that "if I study writing, I will lose my originality."
But that is not the case at all.
Mastering anything takes time.
In the first place, people who write without studying at all are likely in the minority.
There is no point in comparing yourself to such geniuses.
After all, we are just ordinary people no matter how you look at it.
Huh?
You think you're a genius?
Hahahaha.
If you think that, you couldn't complain if someone said,
“You’d be better off hitting your head on the corner of a block of tofu and dying,”
using an old expression.
Genius is a judgment made by others; it is not something you claim for yourself.
Well, I am a genius, though.
Oh, don't throw that tofu at me.
That is why you ordinary people should learn the know-how built by the pioneers who are writing perverts.
I understand very well the anxiety that your own individuality might be lost there.
But it's okay.
Even if you study, you won't be able to write like those geniuses.
People who can do that are geniuses from the start and have no need to study.
However, unfortunately, that is not the case for ordinary people.
Then you should pick and choose from various places.
You should chew, absorb, and demonstrateit little by little.
That will be your originality, and you will become a super ordinary person that even a genius cannot beat.
Whew.
That sounds tempting.
Those who are reading "How to write X," and of course those who are wondering whether to read it, should read, read, and read some more.
And if you can make even one thing from that writing style your own.
You will be one step closer to becoming a super ordinary person.
As for what to read, it doesn't have to be a how-to book.
It is good to read your favorite genre from the perspective of "If I were to write this".
You will have different realizations and it will be easier to digest.
For those who have written an essay or a novel even once, that way of reading is even more recommended.
At this point, some people might feel pessimistic, thinking "I could never write like that...".
You really are a troubled soul.
But there is absolutely no need to be so self-deprecating.
In the first place, if you could do it exactly as the how-to says, you wouldn't have any trouble.
If you could copy it perfectly, then as you fear, your originality would indeed die.
Therefore, it is enough if you can just chew, absorb, and demonstratea part of the example.
That will eventually come around and become your originality.
I pride myself on reading more than the average person.
I am the type who is diligent in my studies.
Huh?
Weren't you a genius, you ask?
That's right.
Since a genius is studying, that makes me a hyper-miracle genius who is on a different dimension from you super ordinary people.
Ahem.
How about that, are you impressed?
Well, it looks like superalloy tofu is about to come flying at me, so I'll take my leave here.
Now, time to study, study.
You should study, write articles, eat, and go to sleep too.
See you later.
