The healing I found on a day I played hooky.
I felt like I just couldn't give it my all,
so for the first time in my life,
I played hooky.
…That said,
I had planned it well in advance
and made sure everything was ready so work wouldn't fall behind.
A very serious kind of hooky…….
I decided, "I'm going to take it easy today!" and
headed to the Komeda's Coffee just a minute from my house.
While drinking my favorite mixed juice,
I planned to read a book
and spend the time quietly.
……Or so I thought.
But halfway through,
there was someone I just couldn't help but notice🤭
An elderly man sitting diagonally in front of me.
With an iced coffee topped with plenty of soft-serve ice cream in front of him,
he would push the soft-serve into the coffee to submerge it
↓
drink the coffee.
↓
push the soft-serve in to submerge it again
↓
drink the coffee again.
He kept repeating that.
And every time he pushed it in,
the ice cream would melt and flow,
creating a little pool of ice cream on the table.
Each time, he would wipe it up with a paper napkin.
But then it would flow again.
Wipe.
Flow.
Wipe.
Somehow, that whole sequence of movements
was so cute🤭
While I thought it might be rude to stare,
I couldn't help but keep looking.
I didn't get much reading done,
but it was a surprisingly satisfying time at Komeda's☕✨
