Ordinary Happiness: My Way of Life After Half a Century
On my way to work this morning.
At a crosswalk without traffic lights, an adult with long hair came jogging out from a side street.
Thinking they might want to cross, I stepped on the brakes.
The person looked back and beckoned. A child wearing a yellow school backpack came running from behind.
The two of them jogged across the crosswalk together. The adult going first—presumably the mother—gave me a slight bow, and the child following behind did the same.
I had only done what was expected, yet I felt a heartwarming and happy sensation.
What a happy scene that was.
I want to continue finding true happiness in the ordinary things of daily life.
Today is the elementary school closing ceremony.
