[Shirokuma Cup] Writing Tanka about Anime
I'm hooked on writing Tanka about anime.
So, I'd like to introduce some of my favorite anime while composing Tanka.
Since I already did a deep dive into recommended anime at the end of the year, I'll be picking some others.
The season is winter... so I've chosen a story that makes me think, if human history were compared to the four seasons, this might be winter.
"Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-"
This was my personal favorite of 2021.
The year is 2061 AD.
The story begins when "Vivy," an android equipped with AI who works as a diva at a theme park, makes contact with a mysterious AI named "Matsumoto."
Matsumoto claims to have come from the future to prevent the extermination of humanity by AIs, which begins today, one hundred years later.
"Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song-" is a story of a hundred-year battle that Vivy and Matsumoto fought to prevent the extinction of humanity, despite many twists and turns.
It's a story where the phrase Vivy repeats throughout, "My mission is to make everyone happy with my singing," really strikes a chord in my heart.
Here is a Tanka.
Until the day when the march of humanity comes to a halt
I will connect lives through my song
Jinrui no ayumi no tomaru sono hi made
Uta de inochi o watashi wa tsunagu

"The Promised Neverland"
Set in what appears to be the near future.
It is a story about children born and raised in a certain orphanage who attempt to escape—all dozens of them, including the toddlers—for a reason so horrific it defies imagination.
The children compete in physical ability and academic performance, and the protagonists are three children who possess exceptional abilities even among them.
In season 1 of the anime, the way these three child prodigies skillfully deceive the adults and outsmart each other to pave the way for their escape is incredibly interesting.
It's quite gruesome, but I highly recommend it to anyone who likes strategy and mystery solving.
Unfortunately, in season 2, the content was significantly altered from the original work due to adult circumstances, which is a real shame as it led to a very disappointing result.
I've included a Tanka with the hope that they will make it properly someday...
Escaping from the home I thought was paradise
The world I cross is one where even demons live together
rakuento omoishiwagayawo nukedashite
watarusekaiwa onisuratomoni

"Deca-Dence"
This is really amazing.
I really want you to watch it.
The setting is Earth, presumably in the distant future. Civilization has collapsed.
Monsters called "Gadoll" roam the desolate land, and humanity is facing a crisis of extinction.
People live inside a giant, moving fortress called "Deca-Dence," but... just watch the first two episodes.
It's so surprising you'll fall right out of your chair.
And now, a poem.
Though you burn your life for survival
The truth of this world is but a dream of the gods
sonzoku ni inochi moyaseshi kimi naredo
kono yo no makoto wa kamigami no yume
