My Happiness Note | Real-life GW Meetup

In the middle of Golden Week, I met up with two fellow noters in Asakusa for lunch and a chat, and we had a wonderful time. I'd like to look back on the time we spent smiling from start to finish.

The first noter I met was Keiko-san♪

This was my second time meeting Keiko-san.
Our first meeting was... believe it or not, she came to my home. That was last November, so this was our reunion after half a year.

*****

The second noter is here, Noko-san♪

This was my first time meeting Noko-san!
She is a kind noter who had previously commented on my birthday article.

The reason the three of us were able to meet in the first place was because Keiko-san reached out in late February, asking, "Noko-san is coming to Tokyo during GW, would you like to meet up with the three of us?" I had wanted to meet her for a long time, and since Noko-san's visit to Tokyo worked with my schedule, I replied that I would love to! I am so grateful to Keiko-san.

From late February until the day we met, the three of us stayed in touch, excitedly deciding on our destination and where to have lunch... No matter how old you get, this kind of interaction is always fun♪

Well, on the day, we met at Asakusa Station at 9:30.
I met up with Keiko-san in front of the station first, and as we were walking around looking for a nearby cafe...

To my surprise, there were people from overseas riding vehicles that looked like Mario Karts on the public road (lol).

Go-karts running on public roads seem like they would be thrilling (^^;;

I stared at the strange sight, but it turns out it's an activity called "Street Kart Asakusa", where you go sightseeing in go-karts, unrelated to Mario Kart.

With the dazzling blue sky from the morning, being back in Asakusa after a long time, and being in front of the cheerful Keiko-san, we chatted as if it hadn't been half a year at all, and we headed into a Doutor for the time being (Keiko-san is such an approachable person).

*****

At Doutor, we sat side-by-side with Keiko-san at a semi-circular table against the wall, chatting about trivial things while waiting for Noko-san with excitement.

Then, Noko-san appeared softly. Yes, the word "softly" fits her perfectly... For some reason, that scene is still vivid in my mind even now! Even with a mask on, she is someone who exudes a gentle "softness" from her whole being. And her voice is cute, too (I'm jealous).

After a light tea, the three of us started our leisurely stroll to the lunch spot in Asakusa!

It was quite crowded, but we had such a pleasant, relaxed time strolling through Asakusa, stopping along the way to take photos, that we didn't even mind the crowds.

Oh, that's right, I bought a selfie stick beforehand for this trip, and even though I wasn't used to it, we tried taking many shots of the three of us! Adjusting the angle and where we stood to figure out how to take a good photo was surprisingly fun and full of laughter 🎶

*****

For lunch, we went to "THE LOUNGE," which Keiko-san had reserved.

The interior had a very calm and soothing color scheme.

It was funny how just the fact that the three of us chose completely different things made the conversation lively...

Keiko-san -> Arrabiata with eggplant paste and cottage cheese (yup, that looks delicious)
Noko-san -> Tomato doria seasoned with two types of spices (yup, doria is hard to pass up too)
Me -> Parmesan pilaf with small shrimp (I chose this because I don't usually make pilaf... lol)

It was a lunch that flew by with delicious food and fun conversation!

Back to strolling around Asakusa...

Grateful for the cloudless blue sky ✨

Seeing things like this up close makes me realize the charm of the downtown area.

Off to Senso-ji Temple (I didn't take this photo straight...)

The fortune slip... it was a "Kyo" (bad luck), of all things.

When the three of us drew our fortunes...
Keiko-san -> Suekichi (small blessing)
Noko-san and I -> Kyo (bad luck)

The contents were disastrous, but this just means there is nothing but room for growth in our future happiness (I just really wanted to use the word "room for growth"... lol)

The ceiling of the shrine's main hall
Thank you for the chance to meet the three of us.

The carp streamers look like they're having a good time too 🎶

After that, we took a break at a cafe.
Even then, the three of us each chose different menus (lol)

I didn't manage to get a photo of Keiko-san's ice cream (・・;)

The fun time passed in the blink of an eye, and we parted ways around 4:30 PM.
Keiko-san and I headed home by subway.

Noko-san had to pick up her son and grandchild, so we said goodbye at the station (her son had such a kind face and bowed to us many times).

Keiko-san, Noko-san, thank you once again for such a wonderful time. Tea time after dinner 🫖

A portion of the souvenirs from the two of you ✨

I would be happy if we could meet again.
Thank you so much ✨✨✨

Keiko-san also wrote an article about our first meeting! That time already feels nostalgic.

Thank you for this article as well!

Noko-san wrote a celebratory article for my birthday this year. It really made me so happy 🎶
