My [Precious Memories of Hina Dolls] 🎎 Diary
Today is March 3rd, the Doll Festival, isn't it? 🌸
In our home with two sons, this is an event we've always skipped, but... 😅
Actually, I grew up as an only daughter, so until I got married... no, even after I got married, until my mother developed dementia and could no longer set up the tiered stand, my parents' home had a seven-tiered Hina doll display every year. 🎎

But, it was something like this. ✨
This tiered stand is truly a precious one with so many memories for me...
That's because these are Hina dolls that my grandmother handmade one by one as kimekomi dolls.
My mother apparently had a complicated case of appendicitis that turned into peritonitis when she was in junior high school, and she was told she might not be able to have children.
In fact, I was conceived in my mother's womb 13 years after she got married.
She had already almost given up hope. 💦
So, my grandmother must have been praying for my birth until I arrived.
At the time, my grandmother was a teacher of kimekomi dolls, and she carefully, so carefully, made these Hina dolls while praying for her grandchild to be born safely. ♪

My favorite thing about them is that they are a bit plumper than regular Hina dolls, and their faces have a gentle look. 🥰
Since they are kimekomi, the layers of the kimono and the wrinkles are all tucked into the wood. ✨
It's truly elaborate work, and just looking at this conveys how much my grandmother cherished me. 😭
In fact, although we lived far apart, I would stay at my grandparents' house every long holiday, and they really doted on me. 🥰
And as for the Hina dolls...
Until I was in elementary school, setting up the tiered stand, inviting my friends over, and serving them chirashi-zushi was a fun annual tradition for me, and for my mother too. 💕
When we closed up my parents' house, I decided to dispose of the tiered stand, but I couldn't bear to part with just the Emperor and Empress dolls, so I brought them home with me. 😅

Besides these ones, in my home right now,
these Hina dolls are also here with us 😊

When it comes down to it, I really do love Hina dolls 🤭
And then...
finally, please take a look at this huge tiered display!

These are the Hina dolls displayed in the station building in Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture 🎎
Konosu City has long been known as a city of dolls, and they hold events like this every year 😊
I took this photo about the year before last ♪
I haven't been able to go see them this year, but I hope I can go see them again next year!
