The Story of a Rakugo Lady Who Achieved FIRE to See Her Favorite Performer
I have a favorite stage actor.
And I have a dream I want to make come true.
It is, "using passive income to go see my favorite performer".
Passive income. It has such a nice ring to it...
Specifically, I want to reach a state where my fan activity expenses
are fully covered by the combination of the growth in my assets
from stock investments and my dividend income.
Money comes in even if I don't work,
and I can use that money to go to my favorite performer's shows.
It really is a dream, isn't it?
The reason I came up with this dream
was because of a "Rakugo Lady".
A former boss of mine loved Rakugo
and was a regular at the vaudeville theater.
I was taken to the theater by that boss
just once.
My boss had many friends at the theater.
Those friends were kind,
and they even included me in their conversation,
even though I was nervous about the feeling of being an outsider at my first Rakugo show.
The topic that came up there
was about a certain female customer.
Apparently, she shows up at the theater almost every day,
sits near the front row, enjoys the Rakugo alone,
and then goes home alone.
I see her all the time, day or night.
She's probably in her 30s or 40s.
She doesn't stand out,
and no one has ever spoken to her,
but because I see her so often,
I can't help but be curious.
There is such a mysterious regular.
If she's there every day,
she must not have a steady job.
Even if she's a housewife, she probably doesn't have children.
Maybe she's a lady of leisure or the daughter of a wealthy family.
Or maybe she achieved FIRE.
My boss's conversation was just idle speculation.
But the last option that came up
made me feel like I had just woken up.
Wait, that's it...
If I achieve FIRE,
I can go see my favorite performer every day...!
I named that regular the "Rakugo Lady," and
I let my imagination run wild with the story
of how she got to this point.
The Rakugo Lady isn't a striking beauty,
nor is she particularly social.
But she is steady, modest,
and the type who can work hard little by little.
She has her own core values,
and she fully enjoys living alone.
She has a younger brother. She has a small dog.
Since she's in her 30s or 40s,
maybe she was a high-earning career woman
who made money quickly.
Maybe she was a serious civil servant.
One day, she thought, "Maybe I'll try watching Rakugo," and
went to the theater alone, where she met
a young and promising Rakugo performer and
became completely hooked.
The theater is open every day.
Her favorite performer sometimes appears during the day on weekdays.
If she kept working like this,
she would keep missing the chance to hear her favorite's Rakugo.
That's when a fire was lit inside her.
She worked harder than ever before,
and put a portion of her salary into investments.
While going to hear her favorite's Rakugo between work,
she spent her days diligently investing and saving.
And finally, she achieved a state of r > g,
meaning the increase in assets from investments
exceeded her living expenses, achieving FIRE.
And so, the Rakugo Lady
was able to realize her greatest wish in life:
"attending every single show of her favorite Rakugo performer."
So cool...
Though I add "not that I know for sure" to the end of all these assumptions.
It's an ideal vision of the future where I achieve independence and fan activity.
In my case, I go to the theater where my favorite performer stands.
Stage performances are held on weekends too, but
it is overwhelmingly easier to get tickets for weekday afternoons.
I also want to be free to
go see my favorite performer
without worrying about work on weekday afternoons.
I want to become the second Rakugo Lady!!
To make that ambition come true,
I am continuing to study and practice regarding money.
Because I didn't know much about money properly,
it becomes a strength as soon as I learn it.
It's so interesting...!
Within the range where I can take risks,
I have also started investing in Japanese stocks.
Studying stock investment is difficult, but
since I have an otaku temperament, it's fun once I get hooked.
My passive income from stock dividends
is 80,000 yen per year.
I'm still nowhere near the Rakugo Lady,
but I think I'm getting closer little by little.
In my future notes, I hope to write
about such "savings and investments that even an otaku can do."
I would be happy if this could be a reference
for those who are worried about the balance between "independent fan activity" and money.🌷
Everything is so that 5 or 10 years from now,
I can continue to pursue what I "love" without worrying about money!
If possible, to gain freedom

without worrying about work even on weekday afternoons!
