"You're really amazing!" "Oh, not at all, I'm nothing special."
"That outfit looks great on you!" "No, no, you look much better."

Like this, when you're complimented, you reflexively humble yourself or return the compliment.
Perhaps you aren't used to being complimented, or you hesitate to say a simple "thank you" because you're anxious about whether you're good enough as you are.

But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

I believe you are someone who wants to aim higher.
Because you have a calm eye that can notice your own shortcomings, you end up saying, "I'm not amazing at all."

But, if you change your perspective just a little...

When you compliment someone else.
Actually, aren't you gathering a bit of courage?
You feel anxious or careful, thinking, "I wonder if they'll think it's strange if I say this honestly" or "I have to make sure it doesn't sound sarcastic."

The person who complimented you might have also gathered a little bit of courage to share those words with you.
I want you to accept that courage.

If it's just too embarrassing to accept a compliment.
Saying "Thanks!" or "Yay! I'm so happy!" is fine too.
Just by adding a little playfulness, the atmosphere softens.
I think both you and the other person will feel good.

At first, it might be an awkward "thank you."
But that's okay.
I'm sure you'll gradually become someone who can accept them honestly.

Next time someone compliments you.
Why not stand a little taller and say, "Thank you"?
