One day while I was actively looking for a partner, I went on a first date with a guy I met on a matching app.

The location was a pretty stylish cafe, and I thought the atmosphere was quite nice... but that feeling didn't last long.

The first thing he said after taking a sip of his coffee was,

"Man, my ex was super possessive... it was just so exhausting."

......Wait, starting off with ex-girlfriend talk???

I instinctively put down my cup and nodded with a smile, saying "Uh-huh, yeah," but

internally, I was screaming, "We haven't even finished our introductions yet??"

When you're looking for a partner,

"Wait, are you really saying that here?"

There are quite a few moments like that (lol).

But you know, there's no need to get too disappointed there.

If anything,"What exactly felt off to me?"It's an important scene for practicing how to feel that out.

Rather than thinking the other person is bad,

if you think of it as an opportunity to realize, "What kind of 'comfortable distance and conversation' works for me?"

then looking for a partner isn't just a series of failures.

By the way, that date with him was the end of it.

But I'm grateful that he gave me a chance to think about, "What kind of person would I actually have a good conversation with?"
