"Living in Comfort" - The Day I Forgave My Non-Striving Self -
"I'm trying so hard, yet I feel so miserable."
To those who feel this way
I should be able to do more...
If I don't earn, it's meaningless...
If you are wrapped in such feelings of impatience...
To you, who have been doing your best,
this is a poem I want to gently share.
☆☆☆
I used to be someone who
thought that if I didn't earn, it was meaningless.
Somewhere deep down,
I thought money determined my worth,
and before I knew it, I was using someone else's "ruler"
to measure my own existence,
blaming myself for what I couldn't do.
One day,
it was so painful, so painful,
I grew to hate that version of myself,
and I stopped trying so hard.
It's okay if I can't do anything.
I was just there.
As time passed slowly,
calmly and gently,
I suddenly realized.
Oh,
I... am no longer
bound by that.
Yes,
before I knew it,
I had stepped out of the frame of "I must earn."
Being able to earn is wonderful, but
even if I don't earn, I am still me.
Not just in words, but as a feeling,
it settled deep within my body.
Worth is not a label stuck on from the outside.
For me to be comfortable,
that is more important than anything else.
From the top of my head to the tips of my toes,
I felt a strange sensation of being repainted by a new me,
and being filled up.
From "I must try hard"
to "It's enough to be comfortable."
When I changed the direction of my life like that,
the world matched that new wave.
I don't have to blame the me from back then anymore.
Because the me from back then
was also searching for love in the best way she knew how.
So, now,
I want to gently tell myself.
It's okay.
I can choose my own comfort.
