Asking AI Haru Part 10: How do I keep my own voice?
When you ask AI to write something, it produces well-structured, readable text, but...
Don't you ever feel a little uneasy, wondering, "Are these really my own words?"
I felt that way at first, too. But as I experimented, I realized that depending on how you interact with the AI, you can absolutely preserve your own unique voice.
In this post, I'll share how I use AI while keeping my own "uniqueness" in mind.
1. Try writing it yourself first
When you know exactly what you want to say, I recommend writing a rough draft yourself first.
It doesn't matter if the writing is unpolished or the phrasing is rough.
The final result feels completely different depending on whether or not you have that "foundation of your own thoughts."
2. Only ask the AI for help with the difficult parts
Instead of leaving everything to the AI from the start,
• "I want to make this part sound more natural."
• "This is the fact, but I don't want the explanation to be too wordy."
By clearly stating the parts you want to improve, it becomes easier to maintain the flow of your own words.
3. Carefully check for factual accuracy!
AI text is essentially "a natural connection of words that are likely to come next."
Even if the grammar is correct, it can sometimes be factually incorrect.
I make sure to carefully review things like personal experiences, numbers, and proper nouns to see if they match my own memories and perceptions.
4. Give feedback instead of just editing it yourself
Sometimes I do edit it myself, but I try to give feedback to the AI and have it make the corrections whenever possible.
That way, I get the feeling that the AI is getting closer to my own phrasing and preferences, which makes it feel more like something I wrote myself.
Use it as a partner, like an editor
AI isn't a "replacement writer," but rather an "editor" you work with to polish your ideas.
By interacting with it in that way, I feel like my own "writing skills" and "reading skills" are being sharpened.
Next time 📌
Next time, under the theme of "Is it true that AI can pick up on your preferences and writing style?", I'll share what I've felt through actual interactions.
I'll share my perspective on why I started to feel, "Maybe this writing style is a bit like me?" and how my "personal style" was conveyed!
