[Rehearsal Diary 25] The performance is finally here! Final rehearsals for "Hanshin" and revival rehearsals for "Suor Angelica"

Lessons unique to a double-bill performance

This week's rehearsals for "Urikohime no Yoru / Hanshin" included:

・Rehearsals with instrumental accompaniment for both programs
・Intensive rehearsals for "Hanshin" and "Urikohime no Yoru" respectively

It was a very valuable opportunity, unique to a double-bill performance, to be able to experience both full-run rehearsals and rehearsals with both casts of the same program in such a short period.

“Don't you dare fall!” Advice from my teacher

Apart from rehearsals, I also attended a lecture by Mr. Aoshima of the Tokyo Chamber Opera Theatre for the first time in a while. As I was leaving, he called out to me.

“It's already quite interesting, so keep it up. But—absolutely!!! Don't fall!!”

I think he was concerned because I tripped on my skirt hem during a previous costume rehearsal ( ˘ω˘ )
On stage, not a single injury is acceptable. Thinking about not only my own safety but also the possibility of involving others makes me feel very focused.

From "Hanshin" to "Suor Angelica"

After finishing the "Hanshin" rehearsal, I headed to the first rehearsal for the Nagoya performance of "Suor Angelica".

Thanks to the "Hanshin" rehearsal ending early, I was able to participate in the status report and discussion time before the rehearsal.

This Nagoya performance is a revival of "Suor Angelica" and the gala concert performed during the "Tokyo Chamber Opera Theatre Special Week" in May.
In Nagoya, a children's choir will be added, and for the gala, I will be able to challenge myself with arias other than Puccini's.

I chose "O mio babbino caro" from "Gianni Schicchi," which I sang in May, once again.
It is a short piece, but I want to be able to sing this well-known masterpiece more naturally and intimately—that is the thought with which I want to seize every opportunity to sing it.

Theater rehearsals starting next week

From Monday, rehearsals at Minami-Otsuka Hall will finally begin.
Once we confirm our entrances, exits, positions, and movement timing with full makeup and costumes, and finish the dress rehearsal—

The curtain will rise on the first day, Wednesday the 27th.

I currently have a few tickets left for the evening performance on the 27th.

Since it is a small venue this time, it might be difficult to talk at length in the lobby, but I hope to greet you when you leave.
