note Beginner🔰 2 weeks in. What to do first to increase your follower count
It has been 2 weeks since I started posting articles on note.
I have reached 40 articles.
(Is that too many??)
There was some activity around my note yesterday and today, so I will share what happened and what I realized!
First, let's start with what happened yesterday.
Please see here for details.
I was searching for people in genres I'm interested in (those with common hobbies and tastes), reading their articles, and following them, when...
I encountered an unexpected obstacle, so to speak.
I went out looking for people to follow,
and yesterday I was hit with the realization of how absolutely poor my own article structure was, which left me reflecting deeply.
There is a continuation to this story.
Therefore,
without putting that reflection to use,
I am writing another note article, which might make me look like a bird-brained person, but 🐔🐔
I hope you can forgive me, as something that surprising happened!💦
How I search for and follow people
Even though I say I'm going out to look for people to follow, of course it's not just anyone.
I follow recommended articles and beyond,
tracing articles that come up with keywords for genres I'm interested in,
and following them after actually reading their articles.
Because I do it this way,
the number of people I can follow in a day is not that high.
Even if it says they will follow back, there are quite a few people who don't return the follow even after I follow them.
I feel like following someone just to get a follow back is somehow wrong.
Of course, I'm happy with mutual follows, but
I feel like there is higher satisfaction in following creators who post articles I want to read.
Also, update frequency is more important than content and since some say '100% follow back',
following someone who hasn't updated their articles in months or years means it might take months or years for them to notice, or worse, they might never notice until the day note ceases to exist.
Basically, I prioritize following people who have updated their articles recently orwho update with some regularity.
Also, people who are perhaps influencers on other platforms—in other words, those who have tens of thousands of followers despite following almost no one themselves.
Unless I really want to know all their information across every genre as fast as possible, I'll pass on those people for now.
In short,
・People who like the same things I like
・People who output information I want to know
・People whose values or approach to work I can empathize with, even in different genres
・People who update regularly
I make sure to actually look at their articles before following them.
Changes that occurred
And the morning after I did that task more than usual, by the time I got up and settled down, I noticed things were different than before.
My follower count had increased by over 20...
And it wasn't just follow-backs; over 20 people had followed me on their own initiative 😳
Until now, while I did gain followers at the beginning when I opened the account, recently there were days when the numbers didn't move at all.
Perhaps because I had followed about the same number of people the day before, when I tried to follow back those who had newly followed me,
I got a follow restriction orz
According to Google-sensei (AI),
if you get a follow restriction on note, it won't be lifted even if you wait so
you should delete people you are following and try again.
So I deleted just a few people I had followed previously, starting from the oldest ones who hadn't followed me back, and it was restored immediately.
Or rather,
perhaps I was able to resume because the number of people following me back increased during that process.
And my follower count has exceeded 100 \(^o^)/
Yay!
Thank you so much!!
Why did that happen?
Even while I was writing this article, the number of people following me increased.
In the end, about 30 people followed (or followed back) me by the morning.
What I think was the
decisive difference between last night and before that is
the number of people I followed myself.
Since I have a personal rule that I must read an article before following someone, I can't follow that many people in a single day, but
even so, yesterday I
decided not to worry about the number of people I followed and took the time to follow them.
And the next morning, regardless of whether I had followed them or not,
about the same number of people followed me back.
Summary and today's realization
Just by posting articles,
people might find you and follow you in large numbers, and for those people, this might not be necessary, but
unless you have a certain number of followers and
increase engagement with those who follow you, it feels difficult to get your articles seen by a wider audience.
And as I look around note and read various articles,
there isn't much of a relationship between article quality and the number of followers,or rather,
it's not that articles by people with few followers are bad, nor that 'only' the articles by those with many followers are wonderful.
The difference lies in 'how many people's eyes that article reaches', and
because many people read them, you post the next one, and it becomes motivation to keep posting.
Also, by catching the eyes of many people, it can lead to unexpected opportunities.
If that's the case,
if your account is currently
not in a situation where the number of followers increases naturally even if you leave it alone,
if you want many people to read your work,
you have to go out there yourself until you can be found,or you won't be able to move forward...
As an aside,
it seems that those who are updating their articles to get known are increasing their follower count by following many people themselves as a starting point.
For me, that is
/
Super cool😎
\
.
So, the conclusion is
If you want to be found, go out there yourself.
If you want to increase your follower count, start by following others (thoughtfully) yourself.
If you want to increase your likes and comments, read articles and like or comment on them yourself.
If you are not getting the results you want from that,
remember that the numbers are simply not enough
(a note to myself).
To get known,
until you can get people to see your work,
I think this is where you start.
