51 Nights in 60 Days! How I Upgraded My Lifestyle Through 'Hotel Training'
"When I'm a bit tired, having time to quietly drink tea in a lounge helps me feel centered."
Wanting to incorporate such small 'luxuries' into my daily life, I stayed at Marriott hotels for 51 nights over 60 days.
What seemed like a stoic 'hotel training' journey unexpectedly became a valuable time to think about my future lifestyle.
Times when I 'couldn't travel' became the catalyst for rethinking travel.
When I couldn't travel during the COVID-19 pandemic,
I started 'hotel training' as a first step toward the 'lifestyle of spending time where I want, when I want' that I hope to achieve someday.
Currently, I hold status with the following three brands:
・Marriott: Platinum
・Hilton: Diamond
・InterContinental: Spire
・Prince Hotels: Platinum
Especially with Marriott, because there is a Lifetime Status, I am accumulating nights with an eye toward the future.
What is the appeal of hotel status?
Having hotel status elevates your travel experience. For example—
・Room Upgrades: Assignments to suites, corner rooms, or higher floors
・Lounge Access: Perks to freely enjoy light meals and alcohol
・Free Breakfast: Breakfast for two is included, effectively saving on accommodation costs
・Late Check-out: Sometimes you can stay until 4:00 PM (convenient for sightseeing and work)
Hotels that were 'just places to stay' become destinations in themselves. This is the real thrill of traveling with status.
I have written about my experience of being upgraded to a corner suite at The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka in this article.
Achieved Marriott Platinum Status in 2 months!
In line with a stay campaign that started in late February, I set a goal of 51 nights in 60 days and reached Platinum status.

I actually stayed for 19 nights.
・15 nights of credit from the Marriott Bonvoy card
・Equivalent to 36 nights from the double-count campaign (February to April)
I was able to efficiently earn the number of nights by utilizing these.
Please see this article for details on the double-count campaign.
Recommendation for the Marriott Bonvoy Premium Card
The Marriott Bonvoy Amex Premium Card was indispensable for this training. Just by having it, you get the following benefits:
① 15 nights of stay credit are automatically added every year
② Receive a free night award with 1.5 million yen in annual spending (equivalent to up to 50,000 points)
③ Gold Elite status is automatically granted (allows for late check-out/upgrades, etc.)
Even though the perks have decreased compared to before, it is a very powerful card compared to other brands in terms of 'making it easier to earn nights' and 'making it easier to maintain status'.
Joining the Marriott Bonvoy Premium Card via a referral is a great deal.
You will receive 45,000 points for spending a total of 300,000 yen or more within 3 months.

Summary
Although I utilized a campaign, '51 nights in 60 days' was not easy.
However, what I gained was just as significant.
・It became an opportunity to rethink my lifestyle through travel
・Future stays will be more comfortable thanks to the benefits of status
・Once you know the system, anyone can enjoy a 'smart hotel life'
Marriott also has a 'Platinum Challenge,' making it possible to aim for status in a short period.
If you think, 'I want to make my time away more fulfilling,' then the option of 'hotel training' might not be so bad.
