Writers are Readers [13] Thinking about why daily posting became difficult and how to get back on track
It has already been nine months since I started note.
My consecutive posting streak has exceeded 280 days, and 300 and 365 days are now in sight.
Until around October, I think I was naturally
writing 2 to 3 articles a day.
That pace started to crumble
little by little once November arrived.
In this article,
I will share my own experience of how "daily posting" suddenly
became difficult, and
write about how I am trying to
get back on track.
Continuing to do what you "love" isn't just about fun
Everyone has their own reasons for starting note, but
the feeling of "loving to write" is
something many people share, isn't it?
I also chose note as a place to share, and
I was aware that I loved writing.
And when I actually wrote every day,
・The more I wrote, the more fun it was
・I realized I loved the act of "writing" more than I thought
I realized things like that.
Using AI as an ally, even when busy, I would
prepare and post in advance.
I had been living that kind of life for about 7 months, but...
one day, it suddenly stopped.
Why did it become hard to post?
"Continuing every day" is still
effective for me, so I haven't stopped completely.
Even so, the sense of speed has clearly
dropped.
And even before that, I stopped going to
follow others, and as a result,
my view count also dropped to 1/4 of what it was during my most read period.
Considering that note counts a view just by opening the home screen,
"Maybe it's hardly being read anymore..."
is the level I feel at.
If I list the reasons, there are surely many.
・My attention is being taken by other things
・Articles and outlines I had in stock
are no longer timely for publication
・Situations have changed, and some ideas
can no longer be used
and so on...
Even so, I still want to
return to that"mode of happily continuing to write."
Thinking that, I organized what I can do now.
Tips for continuing
When you are writing while managing daily life and work,
it is not always "days where you can mass-produce".
1. It's okay to be short. Just try posting anyway
There is no need to be obsessed with daily posting.
But, light posts like "I'll just put out a short word today"
can sometimes act as a stopper to keep you going.
2. Create stock articles
Everyone has days where they think "it's impossible today."
If you write and save when you are in good shape,
your peace of mind will be completely different.
3. Follow the numbers. But don't be swayed by them
Views, likes, comments.
It's impossible not to care, but
when it's tough, it's okay not to look.
I think numbers are just right as
indicators to check the effectiveness of trial and error,
like "I increased it because I wrote 2 articles yesterday"
or "it reflects when I go to follow others."
So, what to do starting tomorrow?
For the past few weeks, a stagnation has continued,
and my motivation to create articles has been dropping.
But when I started moving with the thought of "I want to get back on track one more time,"
I realized something again.
It is what I have touched upon in this series:
・The importance of "reading to write"
・Securing "time to write"
・Using tools (AI) effectively
.
Reading to write is as important as eating to live.
And instead of "writing when I have time,""securing time to write".
If you use AI, you can have it reviewed late at night or early in the morning, and it will also accompany you for brainstorming.
...And yet, I myself had forgotten the "time to write" I had decided on before.
Just as much as "ingenuity to keep writing," "ingenuity to get people to read" is also necessary.
Recently, I haven't been able to go and comment much,
but I want to improve this as well.
Thinking about such things,
I will slowly start posting again from tomorrow.
How do you keep going?
If you have any "tricks for keeping at it,"
please do share them.
Hearing from others who are also writing is truly
encouraging.
