Things you can do when you just can't find the motivation
A big project has ended, and even though I need to clear away the things I've been putting off, I just can't find the energy.
Even though my head knows I should get back to my usual pace, in reality, I just want to stay cooped up at home all day,
or I find myself thinking, 'If it doesn't have to be done today, tomorrow is fine.'
And so, various things keep getting pushed back...
I am currently in that exact state myself, and while I think to myself, 'This is no good,' my feelings just won't follow suit.
But I think what's important at times like these is not to blame yourself for 'not having any motivation.'
Affirming the need to rest
Don't deny your feelings of 'I want to rest' or 'I don't want to do this'; just go ahead and take the day off.
Time spent doing nothing and just zoning out for a day is by no means a waste; it is necessary for recovering your mind and body.
Breaking things down into small steps
When there is something urgent that absolutely must be done, you don't need to set aside a large block of time.
If you break it down by saying 'just 5 minutes' or 'only up to this point,' you can move forward, even if it's just a little bit.
Not trying to do things perfectly actually makes your mind feel lighter.
Preparing for the version of yourself that wants to slack off
In my case, even if I want to continue posting every day, when I get overwhelmed with work and life, I get mentally exhausted.
At times like that, I prioritize 'finding ways to make things easier' over 'forcing myself to work hard.'
Getting help from AI with drafts or stocking up on articles on days when I have extra time reduces the burden on my mind and makes it easier to keep going.
I think preparing for 'the future version of myself who will want to slack off' is also a great strategy.
Even if there are days when you don't have any motivation, that's not a bad thing.
Rather, those are the times when you should rest or find ways to make things easier, and just get back to your own pace.
If you are feeling like you 'don't want to do anything' right now, it might be a necessary sign for you.
It's okay to rest, and it's okay to take just one small step forward.
By accepting yourself without blame when you lack motivation, you should be able to see your next step.
