[2026.Reading Record.53] A Book to Read When You Decide to Live as a "Shy Person" (Tokio Godo)
The subtitle is "Socializing Works Best When Kept to a Minimum!"
I am not particularly shy, and I am the type who thinks that keeping social interactions to a minimum might be a bit lonely.
However, I feel more at ease with a small group than a large one, and
I do think I am an introverted person who often reflects on my own actions.
Since I have read a lot of advice for introverts, I found many things in this book that made me think, "I see."
On the other hand, the author, Mr. Godo, is extremely shy and
apparently has little interest in people to begin with (yet he lives a happy life), so I think this is a recommended book even for die-hard shy people, haha.
In particular, I felt that his dating and marriage strategies, which allow you to enter a relationship without a formal confession, were well thought out by leveraging his own traits.
(Despite being extremely shy, he has both dated and gotten married.)
What I felt after reading this book is that the secret to a successful life is "knowing your own traits and going to a place where you can utilize them" or "not going to places where your traits work against you."
However, things don't always go that conveniently, do they?
If you inevitably encounter a situation you are not good at, it seems that things will go well if you just accept it and act with the mindset of "playing a role."
Also, it is strongly recommended not to view the traits of being shy or introverted as negatives, but to realize the strengths that lie within them.
It seems that the flow of the times is also changing in a way that makes it easier to utilize the strengths of introverts.
I thought this was a book that could help people who feel a complex about being shy or introverted become more positive, thinking, "Maybe this nature isn't so bad after all."
