I'm joining Nozomin's project! I can't eat cup yakisoba.
I cannot eat cup yakisoba.
But I do like yakisoba.
There is a sad story behind that.
I'm joining Nozomin's project!
My stories of failure.
There are so many that I can't even remember them all (lol).
So, I've decided to write about a failure from a little while ago.
Everyone, do you like cup yakisoba?
Cup yakisoba is something everyone has relied on at least once (is that an exaggeration?).
Even though it's so familiar,
I cannot eat cup yakisoba.
I like yakisoba itself.
I often make it at home, and I buy it at festivals too.
But for some reason,
I just can't bring myself to reach for cup yakisoba.
The reason lies in my past.
How many years ago was that?
I don't really remember anymore...
Anyway, I was home alone.
Since I was by myself, I decided to keep lunch simple, and
I rummaged through the drawer where I keep food.
And there it was, a cup of yakisoba!
Lucky.
I'll have this for lunch today!
I boiled water and poured it in.
I set the timer and waited... how many minutes was it?
Anyway, after a while the timer went off, and
I excitedly went over to the cup yakisoba.
Let's see, I have to drain the water, so
I should start from this corner, right?
I heard that pouring boiling water into the sink isn't good,
so I tilted the cup yakisoba while running the water.
THUD!
Huh!?
I stood there in a daze, not knowing what had just happened.
By the time I realized it, the noodles that had fallen into the sink were riding the water flowing from the faucet down the drain...
Wait!!
The noodles I managed to rescue were only about half of what was there.
I should be grateful that at least half remained... I tried to force myself to accept that, but can you understand how I felt when I rinsed the noodles and put them back in the cup? (tears).
As you all have probably noticed, I was draining the water from a part of the lid that wasn't the designated corner for draining. (Even though it wasn't actually draining) And I tilted it so boldly, too.
Why?? How could I not notice?
Assumptions are scary, aren't they? Come on, me, pay attention.
Ever since then, I haven't been able to reach for cup yakisoba.
Every once in a while, my husband asks, "Shall I make some?" but for some reason, I end up turning him down.
Maybe it's because the sadness of that moment comes back to me.
When you all make cup yakisoba, please double-check where you're draining the water from! (Am I the only one who does that!?)
Well then, I've looked back on my failure, and by writing it down like this, I feel like the sadness has been sublimated!
It really is important to let things out, isn't it?
Thank you, Nozomin-san!! Thank you for giving me the opportunity.
Maybe I'll try eating cup yakisoba again for the first time in a while.
[Bonus] I messed up again this morning, so I'm reporting it.
My eldest daughter's gym clothes for school. I washed them last night, but when I checked this morning, they were still a bit damp.
This is a job for the dryer!
I put it in the washer-dryer and pressed the 'dry' button.
Or at least, I thought I did.
Huh?
I hear the sound of water...
Oh no!!
It's washing!!
Instead of drying, it's soaking wet.
I apologized to my eldest daughter and had her get out her spare gym clothes.
My eldest daughter didn't get mad; she's truly so kind (tears).
