Lowering the bar for praising yourself
Hello, this is Sosou.
Adults are just babies with experience.
Even when you feel like you can't do anything, your body is still moving.
Even on days when you feel like you "couldn't do anything,"try focusing on theactions your body is doing for you
without you even thinking about it.
To put it extremely, try looking at yourself the same way you wouldpraise a baby.
I used to hate that I wouldoversleep.
"I slept so much, the sun went down without me doing anything. Tomorrow is coming already."
But a baby's job is to sleep.
The more they sleep, the more they grow.
While you sleep, your brain works incredibly hard toorganize the information you've gainedandmake your images a reality.
Some even say that "people live to sleep."
If you think of it as 'sleeping children grow,' then sleeping a lot isn't a bad thing.
Your body has needs.
When you're thirsty, your body"automatically"drinks water for you, right?
Standing up, going to where the water is, picking up a glass, turning the faucet, pouring the water, bringing the glass to your mouth, and swallowing the water.
The only part of this process a baby can do is swallow the water once it's in their mouth.
You'd want to praise them just for standing up.
You'd want to praise them just for walking.
If they could hold a glass and turn the faucet, it would be amazing.
Just bringing water to your mouth and drinking it without spilling is amazing!
I spill it sometimes!
When you want to sleep, it's because it's necessary for me, your body is asking for it.
Praise your "automatically functioning self."
Even if you can't do anything, be grateful for those things.
If you don't blame yourself for not being able to do something and just feel grateful, you'll feel much more at ease.
Your body is absolutely on your side, so it's something to be thankful for.
Even if you feel pain, your body is telling you about danger, and for some people, various ailments are signs happening for your own sake.
Even in the same state of being unable to do anything, you can choose whether to be feeling depressed or feeling good.
Feeling good allows your body's self-healing power to work, helps various ideas come to mind, and sparks curiosity that leads to one exciting thing after another.
As you become able to control this, being able to choose and switch your mindset will become second nature.
Celebrate small achievements that you might think are trivial.
A worst day where you can't do anything turns into a good day where your automatically functioning self did various things for you.
From today on, you are a baby!
By all means, let's shower that baby with praise!
Thank you for reading until the end.
