Ballet Today

Hello.
I went to see ballet again today.

Today, believe it or not...
The Birmingham Royal Ballet! The Sleeping Beauty!

I wondered if it would be that different for each ballet company, or if it would be different from the Sleeping Beauty I saw before, but as I went to watch it, it was indeed completely different!

The story is mostly similar, but the stage sets and costumes were completely different.

The costumes of the Birmingham Royal Ballet were truly magnificent. It had that authentic, profound, and glittering European atmosphere—this is what I imagine 'Royal' to be.

The most wonderful one was the costume for, I believe, the Lilac Fairy? It used so much lace that I thought it might be made entirely of lace. Also, the sparkling black dress with heavy lace worn by Carabosse?

Even from a distance, both of their costumes were sparkling, cute, and beautiful, and I was left with my mouth wide open.

The ballerina playing the princess was someone I had often seen dancing in more sensual stories, so I was surprised and moved to see her dancing in a way that made every little gesture look adorable, making me feel that she had been raised with plenty of love from those around her. World-class ballerinas are truly amazing!

On top of that, the prince was a true prince.
My eyes were blessed to see a tall, dignified, authentic prince.

Ah, I was so happy.
Following the last time, this performance made me want to go to Europe again.

Watching ballet gives me a chance to re-examine my own life and goals, and it makes me feel positive. The power of art is amazing.
