Actually, I am in an international marriage
This might be sudden, but
Actually, I am in an international marriage.
My husband is a foreigner, an African man.
It has already been 10 years since we met.
Our child is two years old, and
is what you would call mixed-race.
Every day is hectic, and
honestly, I have almost no time for myself.
Even so, thinking "Is it okay to just keep going like this?"
was what led me to start a side hustle.
Up until now on note, I have
mainly written about my side hustle and my busy daily life,
but today, I thought I would
write a little bit about myself.
It might look a bit special, but my daily life is surprisingly ordinary
When people hear "international marriage,"
they sometimes have various images,
like "That's amazing," or
"That must be tough," or "That sounds fun."
People have all sorts of images.
But my actual daily life is surprisingly ordinary.
I work, do housework, and take care of my child.
Every day is hectic, and most days are not glamorous at all. Haha
Perhaps,
it is much more plain and much more real than you might imagine.
At first, there were things that confused me
Of course, things didn't go perfectly from the very beginning.
There were differences in how we communicated,
and differences in our ways of thinking,
and there were times when I felt that our sense of what is "normal" was different.
Even without any negative intent,
things that were taken for granted to me
were not necessarily taken for granted by my partner.
Conversely,
things that are natural to my partner sometimes feel strange to me.
For example, even just the way something is said
I might intend to say it normally, but
the way it's received is different,
and I find myself thinking, "Why did it turn out like that?"
It really is a buildup of small things, but
at first, I was sometimes bewildered by those "small differences."
There are many times I've thought that this is the part where "love" alone isn't enough to make things work.
I've felt that way many times.
Even so, while living together
it's strange,
but as we lived together, things gradually changed.
Things that bewildered me at first,
I feel like I've come to think, "I guess that's one way of looking at it," more often now.
Of course, even now there are times when I think, "Wait, really? Haha."
But I suppose that goes both ways. Haha.
Things that surprise me are just normal things from their perspective.
There are many different ways of thinking,
and I've come to realize that's just how it is.
Maybe it's not special just because it's an international marriage
Writing it like this,
an international marriage might look special after all.
But in reality,
two people raised in different environments
living together while acknowledging each other
I think that's all it really is.
It just so happens that
there are differences in nationality and culture, that's all.
Of course, it's not all easy,
but because of that, there are things I can see and things I can learn.
I am still learning as well.
Honestly, I can't really say that I am an expert on international marriage.
I'm not quite at that level yet.
Even now, I still have my fair share of worries,
doubts, and days when things just don't go well.
But I think that is all just part of
my life as it is now.
Finally
To be honest, I was a little hesitant about
how much I should write about this... haha.
But if
there is anyone interested in these kinds of stories, I think I might write about them little by little.
I think that day was probably the beginning of everything.
I would be happy if you could let me know how you felt after reading this,
even if it is just a word or two.🦥
