Reflections on a 'Moku-Moku' Work Session: An Experimental Record of How 'Working at the Same Time as Someone Else' Advanced My Creative Process
I tried hosting a 'moku-moku' (silent) work session.
Two people joined. (Thank you so much!)
Including me, there were three of us for one hour.
We worked while sharing our screens on Google Meet.
We really
didn't say a single word lol
At first, I was a bit
'Will this get awkward? Is there any point to this?'
I was thinking that, but
once we started, it wasn't like that at all.
We just
silently started working on our own tasks from 10 o'clock.
I was drawing manga.
And, this was surprising even to me, but
' someone might stop what they're doing and look at my screen '
just thinking that
changed my behavior from usual.
Normally,
I'd have a drama or anime playing while I draw.
And if I got a little stuck and stopped working,
'Okay, break time~'
like that.
I couldn't do that.
On the other side of the screen,
'If they think, "They've stopped working, what are they doing?", that would be a bit embarrassing.'
Thinking that,
I just played music and kept my hands moving the whole time.

In one hour,
I actually finished one page! ・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+
For me, this is quite a big deal.
That page,
I thought drawing the background was a pain,
so I had been putting it off for a long time.
Usually,
I'd draw one panel and take a break,
draw another panel and take a break,
that's how I usually progress, but
I was able to focus and get it all done in one hour.

Just having the environment where
someone else is also silently working at the same time
caused this change.
And I thought,
'Ah, this is really helping me.'
But at the same time,
I thought this might not just work for me, but for others too.
Like, slacking off when you're alone,
not being able to keep focus,
or having the motivation but the hurdle to start is,
heavy! orI couldn't get anything done even though it was my day off~! I want to die... or(I fit all of these! ( ´θ`)ノ)
I think there are actually a lot of people
other than me who are like that.
It's not a place to teach each other,
it's not a place to socialize,
it's just the peace of mind that
there are companions who have decided on a time to move their hands together.Just that alone,I felt like there are quite a few people
whose results would change.
So, I hope I can make these moku-moku work sessions
into something I can continue regularly.
It's a place for everyone to advance their own work.
This time, I just tried it out, and there were people who joined (thank you so much! I would have been lonely if I were alone 😭)
and it actually had an effect!
This is a record of that.I want to do it again. If you're interested, please leave a comment ♪( ´θ`)ノ
See you later
