[Frugal Living #511] Smile instead of gritting your teeth
I started a frugal life as a hobby.
I am challenging myself with the rule of living a healthy and cultured life while saving money.
Frugality is not a competitive world
People who can laugh in any situation are strong.
I spent the morning blankly, remembering that thought.
It seems that in my daily life, there is a lot of enduring.
There is a culture that says patience is a virtue. Because it is a culture, perhaps it forces people to endure.
If I trace back the memories of having endured, there is no end to them. I endured in school club activities as a child, and I endured corporal punishment. Work is also just about enduring. Some people said that enduring pain is normal. I used to think that way too.
I recall that a sect of Gnosticism thought that this world itself is hell, which is why evil is not eliminated and only suffering spreads. That one has no choice but to endure.
If you take frugality to the extreme, you end up immersed in a world of endurance.
Personally, I set a rule to practice healthy and cultured frugality to keep it in check. Also, I occasionally summarize the purpose of my frugality on note to reflect on myself.
If I don't do that, I tend to run toward extreme frugality.
Many of the frugal methods that are buzzing on YouTube and elsewhere are extreme.
However, frugality is not a competitive world.
Even if it doesn't go well, it just means I found a way that doesn't work. I am not competing with anyone. Perhaps I am not even competing with myself.
If I think of it that way, I don't have to do stingy things that require endurance.
A frugal life where you can laugh
Which is better, a frugal life where you grit your teeth or one where you can laugh?
Needless to say, a frugal life where you can laugh is better.
It is fun and seems interesting.
However, people will say that the world is not that easy. If everyone could be laughing, the world should be at peace.
So, I decided to write down the interesting and fun elements of a frugal life.
1. You can live a new life
Don't let your life become fixed and boring. If you get bored, you can just try a new way of saving.
2. You can make discoveries
You can learn new life hacks.
Although it happens occasionally, you can make discoveries close to home.
3. You get the feeling that you are living your own life
I place value on self-control in my life. When you control yourself in various parts of your life, you get the feeling that you are making your life your own.
All of these are interesting and fun elements.
I think that until now, I wasn't laughing when I was doing new things, making discoveries, or feeling like I was living my own life.
It might be a good idea to live more emotionally so that I can smile more often in my daily life. I want to feel with my body that fun things are fun.
