Far from the station, but... a comfortable budget inn in Sakaide

Thinking, 'I haven't been to Shikoku lately...'
I made a sudden decision to head to Kagawa Prefecture🙌

What I used to get to Marugame for my pre-stay was
an unexpected Anpanman seat🙄

Kids would probably be thrilled to tears,
but for a solo middle-aged guy, this is embarrassing💨

The next morning, I had a
hearty breakfast at a cafe near Tadotsu Station☕

On the first day, I went to a Seto Inland Sea island for the first time in a while.
Even though it was 2025, the year of the Setouchi Triennale,
I intentionally avoided the event period
and went to Takamijima, which was one of the venues🙌

Staying at Misaki Ryokan

Maybe it's the downside of a spontaneous trip...
The only inn I could book for that day was in Sakaide city,
over 2km from the station, a 30-minute walk💨

Furthermore, from Tadotsu Port after returning from the island,
it's also far to Tadotsu Station,
so it takes over an hour if you use the train💦

I was wondering what to do,
when someone I met on the island turned out to be from Sakaide
and drove me to the inn🤩
I arrived in just 20 minutes🙏

As the sign on the roof also indicates,
it seems to be an inn that also handles catering bento boxes,
so my expectations for the food were high⤴

When I checked in, I was handed a meal ticket,
tea, and snacks before heading to my room

It felt like a room where someone had just started living alone,
comfortable and nostalgic

The amenities were all there,
and there were two private bathrooms with shared plumbing.
The one I used was a standard unit bath,
but after the hard labor on Takamijima,
it felt absolutely amazing😆

There was no set time, and it was a style where you could serve yourself
as much rice and miso soup as you wanted, and pick up several side dishes
from the counter🍂

It wasn't local gourmet food,
but just being able to eat it piping hot made me happy,
and I couldn't stop eating the rice😋

lacking luxury but feeling warm

Breakfast was the same style as dinner, with
a few side dishes and furikake added as well🙌

I came here without deciding on plans for the second day, but
I ended up wanting to go for a walk after all, so
I had an extra serving of rice😋

I was going for a walk, but it was so comfortable that
I relaxed until the final check-out time of 10:00, and
when I went to the front desk, there was a pile of keys😆

Because it was far from the station,
I hesitated to book it, but
since they kindly helped me on the way there... and I decided to use the inn as a base
to start my walking trip,
the distance from the station didn't matter at all🙌

In addition to the delicious food and comfortable room,
the staff were friendly and my stay was so pleasant...
Looking back, even if I had to walk from the station,
it's an inn I would want to visit again😙

This was my first time in Shikoku in a while, but
when I think about it, many inns in Shikoku
cost less than 10,000 yen even with two meals included,
making it an environment that's easy for pilgrimage.

So, for my first walking trip in Shikoku,
I chose the pilgrimage route that connects the Shikoku sacred sites.

However, the starting point of the pilgrimage route was far...
It was even further than Sakaide Station, but
it's strange that I didn't mind that at all🙄
