Three Haiku - Izayoi Cup

Good morning.

I'm thinking about how lively the town of note is again today.

I'm looking at things like how nice vertical writing is.

I'm just watching.

I'm also curious about the Muscle Festival I was told about.

When I do stretches, I remember it and chuckle to myself.

That's what I'm doing.

If you don't know much about it, you might think it's just muscle training, but

I'm thinking that I don't have much muscle either.

While thinking that,

I'm focusing on stretching my body.

When the weather is comfortable, it's easy to get started,

and I wonder if I'm causing you any worry.

I'm managing to take it easy and relax somehow.

I have to take my daughter to the hospital a bit today, but I think I can go happily.

From a senryu I read for the first time in a while yesterday,

I felt happy thinking, 'Ah yes, this is the feeling of participating with everyone.'

I felt happy.

There are still a few days left, but

I felt like I might be able to compose some haiku today

Japanese anemones shaking, cheeks warm

Chrysanthemum cheeks warm as they shake the name of the week

I love the appearance of Japanese anemones, and while their flower language seems a bit bittersweet, I was inspired by how they bloom in the autumn.

Sipping the full Izayoi moon, wearing the fine wine

Wearing the beautiful wine sipped in the fullness of the sixteen nights

*

The lingering scent that wafts around the nose after drinking sake

felt like wearing a perfume, so I wrote this.

The harvest moon, from the sky above the kiss next door

For the last one, I went with a soft feeling,

composing it with the underlying theme of looking up at the moon.

Haiku can often feel like they require a certain formality,

or have a strong image of being exchanged,

which makes me hesitant to try,

but I feel a sense of familiarity in waka as a whole,

seeping through the seasonal words,

so I decided to write these.

I am always helped by everyone's kind words.
