The Connection to English Learning I Realized During My Fourth Watch of Haikyu!!
I am someone who is called an anime otaku by those around me.
I have started watching Haikyu!! again from season 1, and I have now entered season 4.
You might say, "You already know the whole story, right?" but I still find myself pressing the play button.
What is strange is that even on the fourth time, there are still new discoveries.
When I watched it for the first time, it was enough just to feel:
"So intense!" "Interesting!" "Exciting!" "Moving!"
That was enough.
The second time, the characters' backgrounds and relationships became visible and clear.
By the third time, because I knew what would happen next, the words, expressions, and fleeting moments during the matches really hit home.
And now, for the fourth time.
I am watching and enjoying the "process of growth" itself.
I cry less now, and I am cheering for them with all my heart.
Haikyu!! is not a story about "talent."
It is not a story about "heroes and villains" either.
What I think every time I watch Haikyu!! is that this is not a story about "geniuses dominating everything."
And everyone is a good person!
• Realizing what you cannot do
• Properly experiencing frustration
• Still returning to the basics
• Moving forward even a little bit more than you were yesterday
• Communicating with those around you
• Using the good qualities of others as a reference
It is this repetition.
I realized this is exactly the same as learning English.
I want to start the "Battle of the Garbage Dump" next week!
