📚 Introducing "The Good Life" 📚
Hello, this is Kaashii.
Today, I would like to introduce a book I finished reading this morning.
Title: "The Good Life"
Japanese Title: The Good Life - It is never too late to be happy -
Author: Robert Waldinger & Marc Schulz
(The author was also selected as one of the top 10 TED Talk speakers of all time and is a researcher who has become a global topic of conversation.)
🌱 What kind of book is this?
This book is based on the "Study of Adult Development" that has been ongoing at Harvard University for over 85 years. This is the longest and most large-scale study in the world aimed at uncovering "what makes people happy" throughout their lives.
The authors tracked the lives of hundreds of people over several decades and analyzed in detail the changes in their health, careers, relationships, and happiness levels.
As a result, they arrived at a very simple yet profound truth:"The key to living a good life is having good relationships."
🔑 Key messages of the book
The biggest factor in happiness is "good relationships"
It has become clear that it is not money, success, or fame, but the quality of connections with family, friends, and partners that has the greatest impact on life satisfaction and health.Loneliness has a negative impact on mind and body
Feelings of isolation are considered a health risk factor on par with smoking or obesity, and conversely, it has been shown that connecting with others maintains physical and mental health."It is never too late to be happy"
At any age, you can take the first step toward changing your life. It is a powerful message that you can start building new relationships or deepening old ones at any time.
📖 My thoughts after reading
This book is thick, but I was able to read it little by little during my commute and finished it to the end.
Now that I am over 50,
it became an opportunity to think deeply about "what it means to be happy and to live a happy life," and this book was one that enriched those reflections.
There were many parts that stayed with me, and what left a particularly strong impression was the idea that"daily small connections create the richness of life." I realized that the essence of happiness lies in casual conversations with friends and family and the time spent together.
✨ Recommended for people like this!
Those who want to think about their own happiness at the halfway point of life
Those who tend to lose sight of what is important while being chased by work and daily life
For those who want to re-examine themselves and their relationships
This book provides answers to the universal question, "What is necessary to live a good life?" with scientific evidence and a warm message.
It is never too late to live a happy life.
Along with those words of hope, it may become the catalyst for taking a new step forward.
Please, take a look at it.
Thank you again for reading (or listening) to the end. I hope you found something insightful.
