The limiting factor of the elbow joint is the "flexor pollicis brevis" problem
Hello!
This is Odajima.
I just got home from Toyama, went for a light 3km run, took a bath, and am now writing this blog post.
Well then, today I will be examining and solving the problem of "points that are easy to overlook" regarding elbow joint range of motion restrictions.
Therapists who struggle with the elbow joint, please pay close attention.
Of course, if you take notes on the necessary parts on your phone or in a notebook, I think you can "increase the quality of your input even while spending the same amount of time."
First, as a very important perspective, there is no doubt that in most cases, the "thenar muscles" are involved.
The thenar muscles are a collective term for
the opponens pollicis,
the abductor pollicis brevis,
and the flexor pollicis brevis.
are collectively referred to as this.

If you look at anatomy textbooks or apps, the opponens pollicis attaches to the side, so most therapists who only treat the muscle belly often overlook it.
In addition, the muscle fibers of the flexor pollicis brevis also extend to the vicinity of the flexor retinaculum, which can also restrict wrist joint movement.

It is necessary to carefully observe tenderness and muscle stiffness.
If you can use joint fascia tests or center-of-gravity fascia tests, a positive reaction will appear directly, so I don't think there will be any problem at all.
Furthermore, the point most easily overlooked this time is the "brachialis muscle".
The brachialis is located directly under the deltoid, originates from the intermuscular septum of the arm, and attaches to the ulnar tuberosity.
The brachialis is a muscle that purely flexes the elbow joint, but since it starts from the intermuscular septum of the arm, it is no exaggeration to say that it is directly connected to other muscle groups attached to the upper arm.

Furthermore, considering the anatomical positional relationship of the brachialis, it is also connected to the "subdeltoid bursa" and the "bicipital aponeurosis," meaning it can also be a restriction for the shoulder joint.
If there is periarthritis of the shoulder or restriction of the elbow joint, if you trace the lower part from the bulge of the deltoid in a standing position and find mobility or fibrous stiffness in the brachialis, you can definitely say it is involved.
The mobility of the brachialis means to pinch the brachialis and move it in the direction of the arrow.

If this movement does not occur, please consider the mobility to be low.
And as for the flow of treatment,

Just slide the brachialis muscle upward like this and wait for 30 seconds.
If there is a change in the range of motion of the elbow joint or if the pain of periarthritis of the shoulder is reduced after the approach, it is essential to examine more closely and intervene while narrowing down the points.
Well then, I will write again.

Are you questioning your own treatment because you cannot completely remove the patient's pain?
If the answer is "YES", the problem is not with your treatment method, but rather that your biggest challenge is not knowing the "examination method" and being unable to identify the problem areas.
You can now download for free the textbook on examination science that I have cultivated in clinical settings.

If you are currently in a treatment setting and:
・Cannot maintain a focus in treatment
・Treatment regression occurs
・Cannot explain things properly to patients
・Treatment effects are inconsistent
These worries can be solved with this complete version seminar

Let's seriously share our time in life together!Inquiries are increasing from each prefecture.
Among them, I would like to somehow create a receptacle even in areas that I cannot reach.
Why don't you learn knowledge and techniques with me, train your capacity as a person, and challenge yourself in life?

Why don't you learn center-of-gravity treatment thoroughly with me in a short period? There is a master course to thoroughly learn center-of-gravity treatment over two days.
Enrollment is limited to 2 people so that we can share plenty of time,
so I can answer everything from trivial questions to deep questions.
Above all, since you can directly share sensations with Odajima,
you can dramatically strengthen your senses in 2 days.
At the same time, you can significantly level up the quality of your evaluations and treatments.
I will also accept trivial consultations regarding the master course.
If you have any other problems in clinical settings, please feel free to consult me.
