シネマフリークスがミニシアターに通うわけ　ナナゲイ編 Reasons for Cinema Buffs to visit mini cinemas: Nanagei Theatre

多くの都市でシネコンが増加し、同時に多くの人がオンライン配信に移行している一方、流行に流されない個性的な映画を提供するミニシアターが存在する。

大阪の十三にある通称ナナゲイは世界と日本と私がつながる場で、私が憧れる日本の昭和の空間でもある。

ここでは、ミニシアターならではの 多様な世界と時代へ私達を運ぶ映画特集が豊富だ。厳選された作品が、私達を世界旅行へと誘う。モンゴルに訪れたことがない私は、さっそく「日本モンゴル映画祭」に足を運び、モンゴルの旅を楽しんだ。

昨年の秋、私はここで、とてもユニークなイベント「十三下町映画祭」を体験した。

私の鑑賞した作品は『健康ちえのわトランポリン教室』。単に映画を観るのみならず、上映前後に監督や俳優と身近に交流できる手作り感に感動した。
この作品は、2026年夏に各地で上映されるとのことでうれしく思う。

そして、ナナゲイでは、十三のカフェにて、毎月定期的にファンの交流会も開催されており、劇場のスタッフが映画を上映するだけでなく、ファンとともに地域で文化を育てている。

今年も11月に「十三下町映画祭」が開催される。これからも十三で、私は世界と時代を旅し、ユニークな作品との出会いを重ねて行くであろう。

While multiplexes grow in many cities and, at the same time, many people are turning towards online streaming, there exist mini cinemas that offer unique films and thereby continue to defy current trends.

The Seventh Art Theater, also popularly known as ‘Nanagei’, this cinema in Juso, Osaka, is a stage where the world, Japan come together while simultaneously presents Shōwa-era Japanese atmosphere that one longs for.

Here, there is a plethora of movies, film festivals and events that transfer us to a diverse array of worlds and eras, making this an experience quite unique to mini cinemas. These curated films invite us on a journey around the world. Having never been to Mongolia myself, I had a joyous virtual trip of Mongolia through  the ‘Japan-Mongolia Film Festival’.

During the last autumn (2025), I had the opportunity to experience a truly unique event here, i.e. the ‘Jūsō Shitamachi Film Festival’.

Upon watching the film "Trampoline Class for Wisdom and Health" (kenko chie no wa trampoline kyoshitsu). I was deeply moved by the personal, homely atmosphere, which allowed me not only to watch the film but also to interact closely with the director and actors before and after the screening. I am delighted to hear that the film has since been screened in various locations after the festival and continues to receive favorable acclaim.

In addition to screening films at Nanagei, regular monthly fan gatherings are held at a café in Juso which highlight the cinema staff not only screen films but also work alongside fans to nurture and foster local culture.

With the ‘Juso Shitamachi Film Festival’ will be held again this November, I shall continue to journey through the world and the ages, encountering one unique film after another and hope others get to enjoy as well.
